    Sensor Cleaning

My confession - In the 7 or 8 years I have owned my camera body the sensor has become so filthy that I am more proficient in Photoshop at cloning out the dots in the sky than any other Photoshop operation. The squeeze bulb has minimal effect any more and I've been intimidated by wet cleaning...

Wandering the West for Pastries and other Baked-Goods and Sweet Treats

I do a lot of bicycling in Coastal Marin and Sonoma Counties and have a keen eye for delicious calories. The Bovine Bakery in Point Reyes Station, CA. My favorites are the Morning Bun, Armando Bun, Pain au Chocolat, and the Cheese Twists. They also make some delicious and eclectic pizzas...

Outside venting for a 12 volt CF110 compression frig

As long as you have good interior vents below and above the fridge to allow good air flow I see no reason for exterior venting unless you are in the habit of leaving your camper in full sun on hot days with all the windows and vents closed, in which case a high vent to let out the small amount...

ARB Awnings on a Pop Up...anyone had experience with them?

We had an ARB awning on our Vanagon and liked it a lot, but we do a lot of desert camping where shade can be hard to find. If the corners are staked down properly it can hold up to a pretty stiff breeze. Also nice for providing an outdoor sitting area when the rain is coming down. The ARB...

Use of Hi-lift on 2004 Toyota Tacoma

The "lift mate" suggested by Mark works great! Mud can be a real problem with a jack unless you have some sort of wide platform for the jack base. Otherwise you can end up driving the jack into the mud rather than lifting the truck out of it.

    Levelling blocks

Yeowch! I didn't figure anything other than lead bars could be heavier than Trex!

    Levelling blocks

Thanks Lighthawk. LVL sounds like a great idea. Several years ago I made a set of blocks out of Trex decking with little aluminum cleats dadoed across them to keep them from slipping on top of each other, but I curse their weight every time I have to carry them. LVL should save some weight.

Plastic coating over wood peeling outside under bed-How to fix?

I'm not familiar with the plastic fabric you are dealing with but have had good luck with contact cement for re-gluing similar products. You might want to try a very small area first to see if it is compatible. Be sure to apply a thin layer of the contact cement to both surfaces, then allow it...

    Camping suggestions near San Fran?

Alan is right on point about the scarcity of campsites around here on summer weekends. A couple more private campgrounds you might try for last-minute cancellations are the KOA in Petaluma and the Olema Ranch Campground in Olema. Olema is, however, probably a little more than an hour from S.F...
