    A Funny Comment

My cooking is so bad we pray after the meal. My cooking is so bad the flies pitched in to fix the hole in the screen door. Stolen from the great Rodney Dangerfield and changed to not be complaining about my wife.

    Ineos Grenadier prototype review

Starting base price in the U.S. is currently set at $97,000. So maybe 110-115k after options, tax, etc. Another toy, Steve???

FWC 3 Piece Portable Table Free

I'm not quite sure what a 3 piece table is. Is that a base, straight post, and tabletop? Or is it the one that has a side mount, L shaped post that can swing around, and tabletop? I would be interested in the one that swings around.

    Current Spike in Gas Prices

$4.04 at our local Sam's Club. Hoping to see under $4 next time we get gas.

Used Hawk, thoughts on fair price?

We sold a truck/camper combo two years ago for $40k. The camper was a 2014 side dinette without the water heater. The truck blue booked at $18k, so we got about #22k for the camper and had two other buyers lined up. Similar age with a front dinette and water heater... $23k sounds right. Go buy...

    Flexible Solar Panel Recommendations

The rooftop glue down panels on our Provan Tiger are covered in a textured, clear plastic that provides a non-slip grip for walking on but does not affect their energy production. yes, you can actually walk on them. We have 400 watts of solar and our lithium batteries are usually fully charged...

    InReach Challange

I have had the same issue over the years myself. We just did a trip in the redwoods last week ourselves and, surprisingly, it did send the messages on several occasions when I did not think it would. It did take longer than normal. I hit send and set the device aside facing up and it eventually...

Salt Springs, Sierra Nevada - October 2022

What an amazing site. Thanks for the report. "Salt is one of the original currencies." I read that the Indians that worked this site did use the salt for trading. They had to keep the site location well protected to keep it a secret from others. Not that different from miners that actually did...

    Vengeance (warning: minor gore)

Success, a double dead mouse. I have no idea how this happened Steve, fortunately we have not experienced rodents in our vehicle. But at our previous home we occasionally had vole invasions in the yard. And I mean by the hundreds. Every morning we would have to fish the dozens of floaters out...

    Stargazer Festival near DVNP

I know a lot of members take amazing photos of the night skies and thought this might interest them. This is a festival with many telescopes set up for viewing galaxies, astronomy lectures, night photography workshops, etc. It is in Panamint Valley a few miles north of Ballarat. March 16-19...

    Vermont! (we moved)

"But it does get cold in the green mountain state.....that where we earned Toyota truck thermometers do register minus numbers." Believe it or not, we learned that in California. Bridgeport. Something like 9 below around 10 AM as we were headed north from a DVNP trip. I took a picture of the...

Burning Man returns to the Black Rock Desert

Some of the artwork is amazing, particularly since it is all temporary. I have seen photos of huge and intricate structures. To see those would be cool, but that is the only reason I would go. I like peace and quiet and sleeping. It is my understanding that multiple camps and art cars are...

Does anyone put anything into the front wheel well area?

We kept a water hose for refilling the tank in there.

How do you safely store your tail gate when it's off the truck?

Nothing fancy. We wrapped ours in bubble wrap and leaned it against the wall in our garage.

2020 Upgraded Four Wheel Camper Grandby Flatbed - $40,000.00

Sorry, not a potential buyer. But WOW, that is an awesome setup and a great price for all you have done. Electricity and water are the two biggest limiting factors when going off grid for extended periods. You have both of those covered very well. Good luck with your sale. I doubt it will take long.

Idaho, Montana, and Oregon - August 2022

Now you know why the Teds show up in many of the Ski3pins reports. And often we do follow in their footsteps if we aren't with them. They have taught us so much, shown us incredible sights, and they are just darn good company.

Congrats Steve. Hope the dogs and the big kitty enjoy camping together.

Solo Loading a Kayak on a Hawk

When we had our Hawk we occasionally carried my 12' kayak and my wife's 10' kayak. For mine I used an extension bar on the front rack. Stood the kayak on its rear with the bow leaning against the extended bar. Set up a six foot ladder by the rear of the camper. Picked up the rear of the kayak...
