    Campfire permit time

Educate someone from east of the Big Muddy. What exactly is the point of this permit other than to raise revenue for the state.

    Pyramid Lake

Cool write up. I've been fishing for over 50 years. I've fished in many waters and ways. But never from a step ladder!

small portable fishing boat/ pontoon alternative - Sea Eagle Packfish 7

Have you considered a classic pack canoe? How about a Hornbeck? 12' 15 lbs no inflation or folding or setting up frames. They even have pack frame mounts to carry them if you wish. I have an Old Town Discovery 119. it's light at 45 lbs. but I'm thinking of moving to a Hornbeck for the camper...

    FWC rubber bumpers

As stated above the factory rubber bumper have the cush of a 2x4. There is no real cushioning effect from them. Just spacing. There are so many different bed configurations out there these days. Many trucks have a bed rail at the front that is similar to the side rails with a lot of overhang to...

Side Mounting a Titan Rod Vault

My solution is that I just bought a couple of nice Fenwick travel rods with cases. Most of my rods are one piece and too long for inside the camper. They'll stay with the bass boat and I now have rods that pack easy.

    Firestone airbags and daystar cradles?

No need. The separation between cradle and bag should not be much. The inside of the cradle is a bowl to catch the bag. Firestone air bags are heavy rigid structures. It's not like they are floppy.

    Load Range E1 vs E2

I've been running flotation sizes in C rated for years. The trick to good handling is to have the tread flat on the surface of the pavement. Too narrow a wheel can make the tires feel squirrely and will greatly lessen tread life. if you are going wider go for the recommended wheel width.

wind noise while driving with truck camper?

My '06 Tundra is the quietest pickup I've ever owned. The combo of that and the small Eagle camper make for a very small addition to the frontal profile of the truck. Don't even notice wind noise at all till over 70 mph. The little fairing on the roof rack in this pic is no longer used.

    Southern Indiana - Easter 2017

Brings back old memories. I grew up down the road from there on the river. My Mom worked at the powder plant back in the 70's. When I left home that park didn't exist yet. I still get back that way every year or 2. Thanks for sharing.

    Rice Build thread!

Vic I have a Trimetric. All loads are downstream of the shunt. All loads and charging is measured through the shunt. They don't have to be bolted to the shunt just located downstream. The battery cables were replaced and extended to the under bench compartment. I installed a marine common...

    Rice Build thread!

I probably have 3/4" clearance up front. About 3/8" at the bed rail. Perfect! I didn't run my fridge from the fuse box. I ran fresh 8 gauge wiring from a common + and - posts through a 15 amp breaker inline. All the factory wired stuff still runs through the fuse box. Though now power to the...

Efficiency of flat fixed solar vs adjustable portable?

Love the info the Trimetric provides. Even in Dummy mode it tells you what you need to know. Easy to watch the draw of fridge and furnace and such.

    Load Range E1 vs E2

New one on me. But I'm guessing this is the "new" flotation tires in metric sizes. Slowly replacing the old 35x12.50x15 ect.

    Rice Build thread!

Went and got beer for the fridge. Installed the beer and fired up the fridge for the season. Fridge is on MAX to cool it down so I plugged in the extra suitcase panels. Full charge +4.3 amp charge while chilling down with fridge drawing hard! The main panel is shaded a little by trees right now...

Efficiency of flat fixed solar vs adjustable portable?

I have a roof panel and a connector at the rear of the camper for the portable. I made my own suitcase portable. Both panels go through the Bogart SC2030 controller I installed in the camper. The roof and the rear connector for the portable are wired in parallel and go through a 30 amp breaker...

    Rice Build thread!

Back where it belongs. The lower platform and smaller bumpers improved the fit in the truck a lot! Much tighter to the truck. The grey paint cleans up the look a good bit as well. No more raw lumber exposed. And a good shot of the steps with traction tape and reflective tape.

Efficiency of flat fixed solar vs adjustable portable?

I had my camper in the garage painting the bottom. No sun on the roof panel for over a week and a little bit of draw. The battery was down to around 89%. I hooked up the portable 120 watt panel and instantly had 6.6 amps charging at 9am in bright sun. it had the battery back up very quickly.

    anyone using the Cancooker?

It looks like they have a new one that's smaller than the JR called the companion. 1.5 gal instead of 2 gal. I think I'm going to order 1 of those. Ordered!

replaced the larger than needed front bed bumpers with some packing foam. This and the new platform should make the camper fit much tighter in the truck. YOU MIGHT BE A REDNECK IF PHOTO!

    anyone using the Cancooker?

Until reading this thread I hadn't given these much thought. But I've been thinking about a larger pot for soup ect. As posted above this could do double duty. Has anyone used one of these on top of a gas campfire with a grate? I have a Camco Little Red Campfire that hasn't seen much use yet...

    Rice Build thread!

My solar suitcase got a good test yesterday! The Camper has been in the garage for over a week with no sun on the roof panel. Per the Trimetric I have a slight 1/10 amp parasitic draw when the main switch is on. I was thinking this was the fridge plugged in but powered off. But I checked and...

    Load bars

I like it. When I did mine I bought used Yakima towers off the web. Then bought 6000 series 6' aluminum tubing from a metal supplier. Saved some weight and some money over buying new Yakima stuff.

Shade House / Screen House recommendations please

Thanks for the info. For us the big screen house would mainly be for extended stays such as our annual beach vacation. I'm thinking the one I saw last year may either the Clam Pavilion or the above Eureka. It was tan and brown. Most short trips I have need for neither an awning or the screen...
