New (to me) Truck ideas and opinions

I don't have any plans to chip it up, believing firmly "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Foy After having the chip, stock feels very broken  My 60 hp tuner doesn't stress things much but I really wouldn't want to go back to stock. http://www.dp-tuner.com/index.php?p=wp&page_id=3 It...

Best cell phone carrier for "wandering"?

Where I am, Verizon is really the only choice. By the way, I cut down my phone bill by getting rid of the cell plan and got a MiFi wireless hub and Verizon data plan instead. I use Skype or TextFree on my iPod Touch to turn it into an "iPhony". The only drawbacks to this are having to power up...

Best cell phone carrier for "wandering"?

We have verizon on the phone through Walmart - Straight Talk. No contract, uses the Verizon network, set price, no surprises, and cheaper than my previous deal with Verizon. We also have an IPad that is on AT&T. We have had pretty good success with AT&T, often can get a signal with it when we...

New (to me) Truck ideas and opinions

Actually I believe mine is also cooled by the radiator but now it runs through my extra unit before getting back to the trans. Be sure to get an EGT if you do anything to juice it up. My DP tuner chip is great, and pretty conservative, but still can run the temps up. Even this tamest of their...

New (to me) Truck ideas and opinions

GBW, I'm new here and am happy to have the opportunity to contribute some info regarding my experience with a 2002 F350 SRW longbed crewcab diesel 4WD w/ auto transmission. Hope this helps. Foy in NC Great post, thanks for the info. I have an early 99 7.3, they changed a few things mid...

    Interesting Blazer FWC combo

Very nice, wonder what year and model camper?

    Water tank in your FWC?

[ Because I'm a lazy slacker I never got around to figuring out what's really wrong. And it hasn't been a big deal at all to me. I never have to worry about water freezing in the lines when I camp in sub-freezing temperatures, which I do every year...sometimes even in the "summer"...

    Flight Over West Grand Canyon

    Nice way to fly over

New (to me) Truck ideas and opinions

I do mine every 7,500 miles or every 6 month. On my old Dodge I bought a case (12) fleetgaurd filters for about $6 a filter. 3 gallons of Delo 400 @ +/-$12.00/gal = +/- $45. Fuel filter once a year @ $25. Huge air filer once a year @ $40. All super easy to do in your driveway and pretty cheap...

    Water tank in your FWC?

I guess it depends on your use and wants. In the 4 corners area I really like having my water tank full, lots of places there is none available. It is one more system, needs to be sanitized once in a while :o And if you have a electric pimp that is one more point of failure but it is also very...

    Another creative camper

It would be kind of fun boating to Europe! Frank I don't think you mean on that rig :o With the raft the best you can do is Cape Spear, closer to London than to Chicago :D

    Dogs in your FWC.

My F250 4x4 with a camper package sit quite high off the ground, so I have a telescoping dog ramp to allow the dogs to get in and out of the camper. It's a steep jump for a dog and, once when getting out of the camper, one of my dogs almost got his rear leg caught between a small gap in the...

    Used FWC camper alert

Interesting idea about the propane relocation, I might have to do that since I'm going to ditch the furnace for a Wave. Then I can keep the old propane door for an external storage location but reduce the depth of the area to regain interior storage. Not to hijack, but.. I'm not sure why...

    Dogs in your FWC.

One thing I am an expert on, FWC and dogs. Heck, three of my dogs have even been to the factory  I took two across the North Slope of Alaska and three went to Newfoundland. With foster dogs I have had as many as 4 at a time, right now the pack consists of 3 dogs for a total of 150#s. My...

    Used FWC camper alert

What happened? I heard you say " a few minutes with a welder will have it back in good shape." Projects always have a way of being more. Looks like you are well on the way to having a great camper!

Are you aware of HR 1581?

I agree that certain lands should be designated wilderness, no vehicles but what pisses me off is some groups that deliberately lie and distort what the legislation is proposing yet wrap themselves in such a sanctimonious manner.

    Anyone running two fantastic fans?

Your rig is very similar to mine. Is that a Wells Cargo trailer? And to mine as well

    Anyone running two fantastic fans?

Adventure RV has some good prices but it pisses me off they they gouge you on shipping. They have the same thing listed on Ebay for $5 less.

Are you aware of HR 1581?

BS, the Wilderness release act does nothing to sell off land and this is a great case of many environmental groups distorting the legislation to restrict our use of public lands. “The bill that was referenced is H.R. 1581. Under this legislation, there is no ‘sell-off’ of land. The bill simply...

New (to me) Truck ideas and opinions

I first had my Grandby on a long bed F150 with the 4.6. It managed but was always downshifting and way under powered. Went with a 99 7.3, added a DP Tuner, bigger intake and Ex and there is more power than I need. Can blast up passes now even towing, just keep an eye on the EGT's. An F250 isn't...

How Big a Furnace Do I Need?

Is it safe to sleep with the Wave Heaters running all night? I do, just crack open a couple windows and the vent for some air.

How Big a Furnace Do I Need?

This may be the single most helpful piece of information I've heard about the Wave 3. I too have a Grandby, and sometimes get stuck in 20 degree weather. I will soon be ripping out by fridge and furnace and replacing with an Edgestar and Wave 3. I'm glad to hear confirmation of my suspicions...

How Big a Furnace Do I Need?

The Wave heaters do not cycle on and off. That is a real plus of a Wave. the Wave 3 has two settings marked and designated with a detent, high and low. But the heater will still run if set somewhere other than the detent, say lower than marked low. Not sure if the Wave 6 is the same but if...
