The journey begins – The black turtle?

Most people take jacks off for a few reasons weight, aero, whacking one could be trouble. Not sure what you mean be "distributing the load better". An 8' bed that fits the camper is certainly the best deal. A Keystone stock weighs 250# more than a Grandby, 2 people and that load would put a 1/2...

    Chinese STD

Chinese Sex While in China , an American man is very sexually promiscuous and does not use a condom the entire time he is there. A week after arriving back home in the States, he wakes one morning to find his penis covered with bright green and purple spots. Horrified, he immediately goes to...

    Wind Limitations ?

We got hit by Hurricane Igor last year in Newfoundland, cut the road across the island and whipped us with fierce winds but never an issue. Have gone through a wild thunderstorm in Eureka at out FWC get together. That one took our screen tent a 1/2 mile away but the camper was fine. I have moved...

Counting the cost: Gas...... $1300 Insurance. 200 Passports. 250 OK, we have to come up with ~$2000 in order to be able to do this... How about Big Bend :D $350 in gas, no passports or insurance! I'll be there Monday.

    Looking for Finch reviews

Am looking at possibly a 60-120 watt solar panel and charge controller in the near future as the furnace fan seems to drain the aux batt. to 40% or so in just over a evening/morning's use (though not running overnight). -joe D. That is why I dumped the furnace and went with a Wave 3, no...

    Alaska

Any suggestions on where to stay/camp, must see or must miss will help. Thanks. I enjoyed going to the Arctic Circle and beyond. There is a camp right at the circle, also a camp at the Yukon River. The Brooks Range is impressive, furthest North mountain range in NA. I think we left...

Heading to Big Bend next week.

I think I will head to Big Bend NP early next week. Will carry my dual sport on the back porch on the back of my rig. Anyone headed that way? Stop by and say hi if you are in the area. Here is a picture in the campground with one of my boys watching over the local residents.

    Battery Planning

Any self respecting traveler should have cables. :P I've pulled mine out several times for fellow campers and travelers. Even jumped a semi, have also used my air compressor to pump up others tires and my jack to help change tires.

WOW! That's sure a good reason not to but Firestone tires. Are they some of those 'Killer" Firestone tires from years ago? Frank I have had excellent results with my Firestone Destination AT's. They are the top rated tires in their category on Tire Rack's website. I got well over 40,000 on...

My son in my camper, first time!

Hi guys. This post is just to share my enthusiasm for an unplanned, future ATC trip. I live in MN, so I don't get down to the SW that often, which is where I like to go. I was in MN for 9 years and discovered that a trip to Big Bend in the winter was a great escape :D A different part of...

    GVWR: Gross Vehicle Rate Ratings

Good article and comments. The weak spots on a vehicle that leave you by the side of the road are the cooling systems and tires, both of which are impacted by the weight, (they also are mostly non metallic). If I were looking to replace my F250 I'd really look for an F350, extra capacity at...

Fou r Wheel Keystone is not level on F250

I use 2" of the foam without any issues on my F250 long bed/8'Grandby . A 9' camper on a shortbed (6.5' or less?) sure would seem to have a lot of camper weight way back there. Might put a big load on the front tie downs.

Where did you take your camper in 2011?

Apparently cause I use a mac I can't use that site- it only saves as a txt for me.. But we went from Co to KY and back via, NB and SD.. then to UT, NV, CA, WY then home.. was traveling a total of 3 wks. I used the mac and it seemed OK, I was just probably lucky as I know little.

    Already Been Chewed- Trucks

I have an early 99 Ford 7.3 which I bought with 110k for under $10,000 and it now registers over 180,000 without a hitch. Front end just got inspected and is fine, brakes seem to last forever. By adding a DP Tuner 60+, an oversize aircleaner (Donaldson/Ford) and a 4" pipe, the thing hauls ass...
