    Fall 2015

Yes. It rained quite a bit down here, too. Isn't it wonderful?

    Fall 2015

Now I'm getting a bit nervous. Three more big flocks have gone over (it's Sacramento) in the past hour and a half. I don't recall them being here this early. I KNOW I've seen them in southern British Columbia on this date (well, duh, it's my birthday, so I remember). I sure hope this doesn't...

    Fall 2015

First flocks of sandhill cranes just flew over here. Must be autumn. Love the sound when they're airborne, although they're really nasty birds on the ground.

    Bear spray vs a gun

Strange to relate I've had the top break off a bear spray cannister, too. In griz country, no less, although I was actually about to use it on a rotweiler that was charging me. I'd guess that in addition to practicing drawing (which I do) it's probably a real good idea to check the condition...

The guys on Expo are getting a little silly but I like this motto

Well, I've taken three selfies to show to Great Clips. It does seem to have improved the qualities of my haircuts. Beyond that, nope, no way.

How Long Do You Keep Your Vehicles?

Hm. Lessee Started with a '62 Chevy Nova in 1970. Only kept it for 5 years, sold it at 105,000 miles. Bought a 70 Buick Skylark, in 75, parted with it in '77 when I moved overseas. Rode bicycles and busses until 1998. Bought a disastrous Dodge Charger which died strangely in 2000 at which...

Really enjoyed this report. Thanks. Spent a week hiking the shore in Pukaskwa National Park years back -- magnificent country. Good memories.

    Questions about Traveling through Quebec

Not a silly question. I lived for a year in Quebec, and spent a fair amount of time there when I lived in Toronto as well. It was my impression that Quebecois were impatient with Canadians who didn't bother to speak French, but were pretty welcoming to visiting Yanks. Basic stuff --Bon...

You know you're a geezer when.......................

I think with the exception of the hair in my ears, almost all of these fit. I hadn't really grasped how far advanced in geezer/geezelledom I'd become. I'm not sure I'm gonna thank Mr. Ski for starting this thread...

You know you're a geezer when.......................

When you wonder whether your mom's doctor is old enough to have graduated. (I'm pretty sure he doesn't shave yet.) When your younger friends who you always think of as bright kids start talking about their pensions and marking high milestone birthdays.

    Carson Pass

Look like really nice walks and as usual nice reports and photies. AND you got your chores done! Most impressive. You're right, the headlamp thing is a hassle. I've done it once and I'm ready to bet I'll have to figger it out all over again next time.

Sacramento to Banff -- via Nevada, Oregon and Idaho

Thanks. Sounds great if it's not been burnt over. I've done the Coeur d'Alene-Creston bit and found it glorious. I must see the US Glacier Park one day.

Yep. Real classic stuff. It's that awful moment when you realise what you've just done. There are Aha moments and then there are Oh **** moments, aren't there?

    Experiences with cold/rainy weather

I, too, camp in the Northwestern US and Western Canada, pretty much year around, in a small ATC pop-up. It's a part of the world that can get really wet and kinda cold. Yes, there's some condensation, but keeping a vent open a bit seems to make it all manageable. I've never had problems with...
