RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Heard of "Glam" Camping?

The Wifesky took me Glamping over labor day weekend(10th anniversary also) in Montecito....I was thinking back country somewhere, but she insisted she knew a spot.......Her "spot" was pretty dang nice......   That grassy area looks perfect for a FWC. Run a power cord into the...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West how much rear overhang is OK?

That is a lot of overhang. If I were offroading i wouldn't want that much of the camper un supported. Also you'll have to work out how you will tie it to the bed .

Also, extra cab storage organization. Pics like that show me that I should put a lot more thought into loading the truck and not just the camper. Great job!

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Electric vs manual water pump

I hate the manual pump because i like having two hands for cleaning (not one pumping water) I added a electric pump and put a valve inline to reduce the waterflow if i need to. Even with the electric pump you can still use the handpump.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Repair/Replace/Rewire Ranger II

Looking good man. You don't have too much work ahead of you. I haven't done it yet but might try one of these anderson connectors out for camper to truck connection. I need to do some more research first. You can get them in any current rating you need.

erod, The hooks are just wall mount coat hooks with a flat back sandwiched in between two layers of webbing with Velcro on the back. We just shortened all of ours to give them more stability. Also see the Table Solution Thread for a good place to secure the table top for rough roads. Using...

Have you tried the AC with the top up and some kind of insulation on the sideliner? Thanks, Sam No. I'm happy with the results as I mostly only use it at night to get some sleep. I'm sure some insulation would help as the sides get real hot. Getting the camper under a tarp might be easier...

Update on the a/c project. You will need to fuel a small generator with an external tank if you plan to run the a/c more than 4 hours. Getting up in the middle of the night due to running out of gas isn't fun. Easy and cheap to build an external tank system. Internet search for Honda EU2000i...

yeah, i use my laptop for garmin gps, wireless internet, etc. Mine just sits on the passenger seat and has fallen off a few times:eek: . The store bought brackets are way too much for me buy. I'll probably do something like yours and/or buy the large ram ball mounts and arm.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Grandby options

you got a nice truck there. I had a little truck topper before my 4WC. It sure was a nice improvement to camping in the topper. All your options sound good. I don't know how much money or time you have but you can add stuff later - awning, fantastic fan, etc or just pay up and get everything...

just an update on the a/c... It works great at night or shade. It gets cold enough to cycle on/off. In direct sunlight it's only good for around 10-15 F degrees below ambient and runs continuous. With the top down it's like a meat locker! On a long drive when you just need to get some sleep...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Showering & toilet options

I use the water tank drain valve for a shower. I purchased a shower head (from a solar shower) and attach it to the valve. I bought the big porta potty (565?) and couldn't be happier. it's a great toy and sure beats running out on a cold night and going to the bathroom. One of those porta...

The story on the magazine holders is a long one... Bell automotive used to make them and walmart sold them for around $6. I should have bought a bunch because they don't anymore. I got mine from the marine section at cabelas for a whole lot more. This was about 6 months ago. Maybe you could...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Master Flow Q-maxx Air Compressor

I've been using one of those for a couple years now. Very happy with it but I put on a liquid filled pressure gauge and a quality air hose with locking air chuck. Don't use a cig. plug due to the current draw. Run the engine as the compressor gets about an extra 2 volts and will inflate much...
