Looks good! For a second I was wondering why there were a bunch of pigeons sitting your roof though.

Nice! I haven’t changed my design as it seems to work okay. I only use it in the heat of the summer, so at the moment it is off of the camper and packed away. I do find that it is not a good thing to use when it is very windy, and the desert here can be very windy. I used the longer 1”...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Quick removal camper jacks?

Hold tight for a couple of weeks. I am going on a trip next week, and when I get back I'm going to try to make a set of these that need no modification to the shoulder bolts, and that can be built without a milling machine. If it works out I'll try to document the fabrication process with lots...

I actually timed it just for the heck of it, and it's more like one minute vs. 25 minutes to put the four jacks on. The FWC brackets use 3 bolts each. That's 12 bolts, 24 washers, 12 nuts. Taking them off is a little faster, about 15 minutes. I am no stranger to the wrench, and I used a...

Hi Rusty, Thanks! Those are the Rieco hydraulic jacks, not motorized. They're a little heavy duty for lifting 800 lbs. of camper, but I got them for a very low price. I've been thinking about that kit too.

With the leftover piece of aluminum I also made a plate that lets me mount my 4G antenna to the jack bracket.

I found those brackets on Ebay. They come with a little bit of a bend in them, but a few whacks with a mallet in the vise straightened them out. I'll see if I can find them again and I'll send a link.

    That'd work too. Good idea.

Yep, that would have worked too. I just happened to do this on a Bridgeport mill to get the placement of the three holes with some precision, and a .750 milling bit is what I used to cut the large hole. The heads of the bolts are also .750 diameter. So to get some clearance I cut the bolt...

The three stainless steel shoulder bolts with locknuts also clamp together the two pieces of angle bracket in this design. All I can say is that it is pretty stable when in use.

Yeah, I was thinking that too. But I already have too much work to do, so here it is for the masses.

I also have a 2016 Fleet, but I installed my own struts. The ends that I used use three screws each vs. two on yours. I think that the ends that I used are also a bit wider, which helps to spread the load. This might help.

After bolting and unbolting the 12 bolts on my jacks every weekend for the past few months, I built this set of plates and shoulder screws to make life easier. The plates are made from 3/8" x 2-1/2" 6061 aluminum from Mcmaster Carr. You'll need a six foot long section to make four plates...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West New Fleet Questions

The Fleet uses a longer strut than the other models. I believe thay are 40", vs. 36" on most of the other models. It is key that they are installed in the proper location. I also have a new Fleet. The struts are a (sortof) custom size from Suspa, and are 40 lbs. With nothing on the roof you...

Actually, I was a little surprised at how big it is. It provides a lot of shade. I don't know if I would keep it up if there were high winds in the forecast though. Just not sure yet. I'll take some photos of it set up next time I have it out.

Hi, You can't bolt directly to the brackets as you need to have the posts stand off from the camper about 1", otherwise the stands or the locknuts on the back of the awning will hit the roof when it is raised and lowered. I made plates that would let me also use my jacks on the same plate as...

Hi All, I've built a pair of brackets to mount the Rhino-rack Foxwing awning to my new Fleet. After 20 inches of rain I am a little leery to start drilling holes in my new camper ( I have enough leaks to fix in the house already). This setup requires no modification to the camper. I used two...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West New batwing awning

I just ordered one of the Rhino-Rack Foxwing awnings for my new Fleet. I plan to mount it to two 1" square solid aluminum rods that bolt onto the two jack brackets. That way I can remove it when I don't need to use it, and no drilling holes in my new camper. I should have it in a week or so...
