RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Yakima racks on the new seamless roof?

If adding solar panels the racks can provide the mounting points for the panels rather than drilling holes for them. Only time that might be a problem is if using the flexable panels and even then you can probably use the racks. And attaching the solar panels with a little space between the...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Frame to lift camper. . .

I'd strongly recommend using preservative treated wood. Under the camper against the bed is one of those places likely to spend time wet. Were it me I'd attach the frame to the floor. And insulate, though some airspace in the frame for airflow and drying out is probably a good idea.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Jack and extension plate question

I just picked up a new Eagle from the factory a couple weeks ago with my 2004 Tacoma 4WD TRD. I got it with the Reico Titan jacks. I saw them getting ready to back the truck up with no extension plates installed and questioned them since Stan had originally told me they were required (I...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Jack and extension plate question

I went out and took a photo this morning. Here's how my 2007 Eagle shell was equipped with spacing on the front to fit a Toyota. You can also see in the background a jack attached at the back where no spacing is needed. The back Jack measures 1.5" from the plane of the wall to the inside of...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Jack and extension plate question

My Eagle came with Reico Titans plus aluminum plates (probably homemade) to extend the front jacks outward for the Toyota it was originally on to clear the fender flares on that truck. As far as I know there is only one variety of the pure mechanical Titans, those provide a lift range of 36"...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Jack and extension plate question

You will need the swing away extension brackets along with 4 mechanical jacks. The swing away extension is needed for the front only because of the wider wheel wells on the Tacoma. http://www.riecotitan.com/camperjacks/swingaway.html That's an awful expensive way to go. My Eagle Shell was on...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Yet another refigerator topic

Panels shouldn't cost anywhere near that much, though they are going up thanks to the guvmint cracking down on the cheap chinese panels. I love it, gives great peace of mind. It's not just panels, there is a controller to go along with them. And that should be quality if you don't want the...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Electric Power- Lots of ?'s

RV stuff is not the only option, I prefer to use marine hardware when appropriate. I feel that typical RV stuff is pretty low quality and thus far I've not had that impression from any of the marine parts that I've used on a whole slew of different projects. On the converter/charger issue, our...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Where can I find a clear lens for back light?

I'd like to replace the orange lens. I only use this occasionally, and when I do I want clear light. You can find lots of these lights, the entire light, on ebay in either amber or clear, cheap enough. I've already replaced the current bulb in mine with a LED one. I have plans to replace...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Water tank won't pressurize (pump keeps running)

A clogged screen sounds like a possibility. Hopefully, we can check that out tomorrow (blasted early darkness makes it hard to work on this). Unfortunately, we do have a full water tank. It was mostly empty, but we thought that might be causing the priming problems--in the past, a full tank...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West How 'Dust Proof' are FWC

Whenever we have seen a crack in the frame, like what is shown in the first picture, it has always been at the weld that is noted in the second picture. The 1x1 tube at the top of the door opening no longer spans just the opening. Instead it now spans nearly the entire width of the camper...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Electric Power- Lots of ?'s

The factory plug-in ((thanks WaltK) looks quite deep to be mounted on the wall of my shell unless I could find a location behind the existing owner built cabinet which I doubt but will be looking into that. The idea of a weather proof box (thanks Perry) sounds appealing from the simplicity...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West My Eagle gets a new door

Nicely done. Looks great. Interesting to see the new style door opening in much smaller than the older style. I don't think I would want it any smaller than what I currently have. I was told the new style were all the same size, but I'm not sure on that. My 2007 Eagle door was 3" wider than...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West My Eagle gets a new door

The plate near the edge was drilled every 4" same as the original door for #10 stainless washer head screws. The holes were offset from the locations for the original door. This was then aligned with the camper and a few temp stainless #10 x 1" screws held it in place. To narrow the door frame...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West My Eagle gets a new door

When I located my Eagle it was a 2007 shell model. There was no screen door, and that's essential here in Georgia. To put in a screen door you have to replace the entire door and the door was the older square design and fairly wide. So when I was at FWC during my trip to pick up the Eagle a new...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Electric Power- Lots of ?'s

I certainly don't see why you couldn't do one just FWC does. FWC standardizes their camper electrical on 30 amps. A standard extension cord plug is not rated for 30 amps, so to be legal the system is set up with a larger plug system rated for 30 amps 125 volts. Then because few use such...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Wire shorts at the front lift panel

From all that Ihave read the 10 gauge is the smallest gauge to minimize voltage loss. I did'nt like the idea of piercing the roof so I deciced to go down the exterior and then through the turnbuckle port for the solar supply wiring. Phil In checking out solar panels it's rare I've seen even...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Smooth Fiberglass Siding

Curious about people's opinion regarding the new smooth fibergalss siding FWC is offering? I prefer the looks but wondering about the pros and cons? The new rounded top door I put on my Eagle uses fiberglass siding and that's already showing fine netlike cracking of the gel surface. I'm very...

Howdy, I have 2004 Hawk shell model that has been modified on the interior by the previous owner. Cabinets were added to enclose the LP cylinder and LP heater pretty much where I think they came from the factory (left rear of camper). I plan to add a 110V outlet inside as I may be using it...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Water tank won't pressurize (pump keeps running)

We are wondering if crud in the line or pump could cause this problem, and if so, how would we go about finding this. Are there filters on these water systems? Also, is there anything we should try to tighten? It is possible that air is leaking, but to our eyes everything looks okay, and we...

Pictures ?? I don't have a photo of the square door I got out of my Eagle, but here are photos of a curved door with screen door in one of their demo models. I'll try and explain. The door you see, including the curved door jamb is contracted out and brought in by FWC as a prehung door...

Can you confirm that the frame around the door has been reinforced? It seems like someone told me the rounded door was just for cosmetic reasons. Maybe stan can post a photo of the newly designed frame. The frame remains rectangular I think, a molded curved plastic piece is inserted in the...
