RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Partner Stove

I replaced our table with a 3/4" thick cutting board we used with the jeep setup. When we take it outside we use a colman folding table 4 leg thingy. It's a little low for cooking, but great as a dinning table with our low camp chairs.

I have used a colman on that same table for years with no problems.

I believe the green nut is called acme is because the threads are acme threads. Flat on the top and bottom and a little steeper angle on the thread. A much stronger and less likely to back off thread style.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West 4WC Owners: A Cautionary Tale

So sorry to hear this. Hope you and your's are safe and unharmed. Can you post pic's of what happened. More details of how you slid into the tree? Were you driving? Hard to believe the camper can't be repaired. I'm sure you talked to the guys in Woodland but if you haven't, you might give...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Roof lift assist

I like your design Les. Looks to be about as bombproof as needed. Any idea on the weight. You should be selling blueprints. I just picked up the canoe we'll be using on the trip, but haven't tried to lift the top yet. By the time I got home the rain had started falling hard. Have to wait...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West What size screw?

I'd like to add, be aware there may be wires back there if you have a porch light or backup lights. I was just at the factory having a rear rack installed and they drilled a wire. Had to pull the rear window and pull back the siding to repair the short. They just used screws. I think they...

I was down at west marine yesterday checking the Harken ball bearing blocks out. Would you still use the "H" design or go to a single inside outside tube with tabs for the blocks? I was also wonderind about using aluminum to keep it lighter.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Roof lift assist

I did that in Death Valley. Lowered the top with the door closed and thought wow, that's great. Then I went outside and saw the ballooned top. Had to reraise the top and lower it corectly. Kinda funny when you see it.

Do you have any pic'c of you're simple pole from steel stock dsrtrat? As far as the lift assist that FWC is using, the word I got is they are trying to come up with a better way. Plus, I'm not sure it wouldn't add to the force needed to lift. I think it will help in lowering, but to have those...

We're going to be carrying a canoe up to British Columbia soon. as I'm getting closer to getting everything up there I'm wondering if the old back will put up with lifting the lid with the canoe. I was looking back at some old tags and see some of what's been done, and I ran into Dick at FWC...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Custom Front & Rear Bumper with Spare Tire & Gas Cans

I have a buddy who has these bumpers on an Expedition and I must say they do look great. He has had some problems with the rear. Both the part that bolts to the truck and also the swing out hinges. I'll have to check on the details. I'm pretty sure he's happy whith the customer service...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Mechanical jacks as levelers?

You can do a little leveling, but not much. I use the sq plastic leveling blocks from camping land or any other rv store to get close and then finish up with the jacks. Be careful not to snag the jacks on rocks, trees or any othe gremlins.

That's what I'm thinking Scott. We're past the time in life where we'll be doing class III & IV rapids. The upright sitting in a canoe seems more comfee, and as an added plus, Ruby our black lab can ride along.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Looking for a small canoe

Well, We're heading up to British Columbia in June. So we'll be doing a fair amount of Flat lakes and beaver creeks. Bird and wildlife watching and a bit of fishing. I find canoes more comfortable and drier. What do you think?

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Heading to the Moab Area, May 15th

I really like the road out to Lockhart basin just north of the needles. You can go from needles to Moab, but I wouldn't try it with a camper. The first 30 miles or so arn't too bad and there are some great camp spots looking across the river to the white rim trail. Elephant hill out to the...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Intro: don't shoot me - I own an Outfitter!

I took delivery of my hawk 2 months ago and love it. While I was looking I strongly concidered an Outfitter Apex 6.5. Decided the lighter smaller size would suit us better for where we will be going. I can't wait to hear you're reports and updates as time goes along. You have a very nice...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Took the Eagle Camping over the weekend

You'll be glad you have a cotter pin removal system. I hade them on a ford 3/4 ton front and rear. They were great with a 3000lb camper, but WAY to stiff empty or even with a 100 gallon diesel tank in the bed. Great set up!!

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West It's a sad day...

I had a FWC back in the early 90's. Then got a full sized truck camper. Built a TJ and and towed it for a while, then added trailer rig with a Roof top Tent. Now I'm back to a Hawk. I'm sure at some point a 5th wheel or a pusher will be in the picture. It's all part of the wandering...
