RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Pics of the truck we got for the Grandby

When I bought my keystone it was on a long box ford f150. It had 4 bolts holding it onto the truck. 2 in the front and 2 in the rear. If I remeber right they were probably about 1 foot from the front and 1 foot from the rear of the truck. They were spread out to be just inside the seat and...

I use the Lowrance I finder Hunt. I like it. Mine is not color which in my mind is better because with the color units you need to have the back light on all the time to see the screen. The color is way easier to see read but burns through the batteries. I like the lowrance just becasue of...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Actual cost difference of a diesel engine

This is what I started with. 454 Vortec BB. This setup is lighter than my 5th and boat combo. I averaged 3 mpg going to Sturgis SD and on the way home I had to stop and give her a break because I was fighting a wind and it would not come out of second gear. I pulled this exact same setup to...

No one needs some of these rigs for recreation, unless you are towing and then i question it. Les,Lqhikers Pretty hard to do this with a gas engine.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Actual cost difference of a diesel engine

Right now, there is no added resale value for a diesel engine vs. gas in a used truck. Here, for example, is a listing within driving distance of Bend, OR-- F250 CC 4x4. Which calls one to question, "Why should I buy new vs. (not really that) used?" We purchased a barely used two year old...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Actual cost difference of a diesel engine

I agree. Keeping boost pressure down keeps MPG up; however, the cost is slow takeoff and long acceleration phases. Takeoff might be better w/ manual tranny, but I have an auto (for my wife). Good point on resale. The new vvt turbos are all computer controlled to try to keep the turbo spooled...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Actual cost difference of a diesel engine

One factor you didn't include in your calculations would be the resale of the diesel over the gas. It really depends on how well you like running the rpms to get the hp to make up for the loss of torque. Diesel engines typically have extended service intervals. The extra money for the diesel...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Propane tank ?

One problem with one of those units would be the inability of the lp to boil off fast enough. If you draw too much vapor too fast you can freeze the bottle. Probably would only be an issue with the furnace. I know my Mr. Buddy will freeze the tanks when its really cold out. I have to rotate...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Anyone ever remove the heater & use a Buddy Heater?

Havent used the my big buddy in my camper yet but my opinion is that I would never use it as a replacement for a forced air heater. I have used my big buddy countless times in fish houses and It always seems to give me a headache from the exhaust. Not to mention the moisture that ventless...

Im kind of glad I didn't finish this camper yet. GMs offers are very good right now and my 04 is going down the road. The 08 is in the driveway which means I have to rebuild my base again. I will get photos of the progress soon.

What??? No PICTURES!?:mad::eek: Its not done yet, just wouldn't be right totake a photo. Hey winter200 I have seen people take it out, or have us leave it out when building the campers new. But the shop guys feel it is better to have it in there. It gives some support to the pop-up...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Upper Cabinet

here is a link to the stake pocket tie down brackets they usually work for the FWC's the bracket is no more than 1/2" thick, max so the camper shouldn't be touching it http://www.crbrophy.com/tdhd.html . How much are those tiedowns? Seem like on 3/4 ton pickups that should be enough...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Fiamma Awning…Use Wall Brackets?

If you had the jack brackets mounted to the camper you could fab up an extension that would attach to the jack brackets and went down a ways from the edge of the camper. You could use some bolts with thumb nuts to hold it onto the jack extensions so you could remove and store for travel or when...

Thanks, that is exactly what I was looking for. You can see on the first picture that there is extra fabric that will go over the top of the frame and back under the roof skin. This is not the case with what I have so I am going to make some changes to protect against water. Thanks again.

Roof liner and Fabric Does anyone know if the popup fabric should tuck under the roof skin at the roof.
