RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Sightings thread

Over the weekend we saw a very clean FWC shell on a white Ford pickup, first parked in Tillicum CG on the Central Oregon coast, and then again while walking in the nearby town of Yachats. Nice outfit!

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Sightings thread

On the 18th of July, traveling to Trout Lake, WA we were gassing up in Hood River and met a young guy from CO with a FWC shell on a Tacoma, he has been living in it for about a year - ice box, cook top, furnace and no water tank. He said winter in CO was a bit rough, lots of frost every morning...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Water pump won't!

"Last comment is to compliment both the FWC and Sureflo Customer Service teams for their help with solving this problem. They were very informative and patient with my dumb-ass questions and I am still surprised at how quickly the new pump arrived." I will echo this sentiment, it's not always...

From Newport south is some of our favorite Oregon coastline; Bandon - Cape Blanco area has lots of sea stack scenery and we've enjoyed some great family hikes along the southern section. Enjoy!!

On Sunday at the Oregon coast, (cooling off for a few days!!) met two separate FWCs, both on darker pickups; we were heading south between Newport and Yachats. First one waved with a peace sign and second with "hang loose". On Tuesday gassing up in Florence, a Phoenix Camper on a small white...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Water pump won't!

No apologies necessary when talking about fishing! On our Eagle I didn't have to remove any panels to access the pump, but it was a mild circus act to get to it. We don't have a water heater so I suspect I may have more work-space under the counter than in some campers.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West post a *PIC* of your latest purchase (can be anything as long as it is for your camper)

We found this storage container at the local Target, thinking it would work well as a garbage "can". It fits nicely under the recessed space under the cabinets. The lid seals air tight and a plastic produce bag from the grocers is a good fit as well. On this weekend's outing no matter how many...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Truck/Camper Damage from Rough Roads?

Great suggestion, thanks - a friend also suggested a spot of clear nail polish as a "lock" and I was wondering about using blue Loctite? I'll also be curious to see what FWC suggests- I like your solution though, sounds like it would be very solid - thanks again!

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Truck/Camper Damage from Rough Roads?

I just found a couple of trim/siding screws that had worked loose, (one had fallen out). I snugged them up and on further inspection found that about every third screw was loose. We have put about 8k miles on the camper this year and some of those were gravel and rough road miles. AlCan...

Fishing is more interesting than water pumps anytime! The lake was not real clear, maybe a foot or two visibility, although it was much clearer than last year when I made my first foray over there. It wasn't too windy this year so not a lot of wave action to roil things up. I was there the last...

A long overdue update on the waterpump saga: After installing a new pump from FWC and getting off to fish Mann Lake in Eastern Oregon (amazing place and amazing fishing, Lahotan Cutthroat, 16"-20" - even I caught fish! That doesn't usually happen! ) I gave Shurflo another call on the off chance...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West The Naming: A cautionary tale

My kids wrote the word "despacio" in the dust on the rear window of my 86 Isuzu Trooper - translated it means "slowly"! So named until the day it sold!

We just returned from an out-and-back to NV, AZ and UT. Left the 20th of April and got home yesterday. FWCs sighted were: On the 22nd and 23rd In Valley of Fire SP, NV - a Silver Spur Hawk on a dark colored full size pickup at Atlatl CG and a Ranger on a pickup I didn't catch at Arch cg. On...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Solar in a bag

I think you're correct - my kit is 100w , two 50 watt panels that look to be wired in series. I'm not much for all the calculations and details of e-lectronics but I think someone with knowledge and skills could build a much better portable unit that would generate much more power and be...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Solar in a bag

I think that's a good idea, building your own portable unit. It would likely cost less and be more well-built. And you are correct, the controller on this panel kit is a lot cheap! I found it on eBay for something like $11 or $13! At that price I figured I could take a chance with bad weather...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Self contained vs side dinette

I'll chime in with our limited experience so far; -We opted for the side dinette as the front dinette was not available in the Eagle model. (We chose the Eagle for its narrower profile) We are really pleased with the side dinette configuration, lets one of us get out of the way of the other...
