RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Replace FWC Headliner?

It's project time... Can anyone share your experience/advice on replacing the headliner? I have a Grandby from one of those years with bad material, and it's starting to tear. I have no idea how to do this. Can you just remove the old headliner and put new material up? Do you attach the...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Removing FWC Furnace

Thanks everyone! I got it out as you described... - disconnect the propane - remove the plywood panel from the camper interior (aside from the screws on the outside of the panel, need to remove screws from L-shaped brackets on the part toward the front of the truck) - then remove the 2 screws...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Removing FWC Furnace

I'm trying to remove the furnace from my 2003 Four Wheel Camper to replace it. I was hoping that the whole thing would just slide out the rear opening, but no luck. Has anyone taken a furnace out? Can you advise on how to do it? Many thanks!

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Power/Inverter Question

Thanks for all the great info. This forum always saves me a lot of time and guesswork! I think I'll buy another laptop battery - that might be enough to get me by. I'd also like to connect a small inverter directly to the battery. Frank - what 150w inverter do you have? It looks like most...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Power/Inverter Question

Hi everyone, I'm another guy who doesn't know much about electrical stuff. I have an early 2000s Grandby with a battery that is now 6 years old. I tried to use a 150 watt inverter plugged into one of the camper's 12v outlets (tried both outlets), but the inverter "alarm" sounded and it shut...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Awning Mosquito Enclosure

Yeah, I hear you. It's not much good without pictures, but we're leaving for Alaska on Friday or Saturday and things are kind of crazy right now...I'll try to get some pics up though... If you are interested in doing this, I suggest looking around at different net materials - they are...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Awning Mosquito Enclosure

I just added a mosquito net to the FWC awning. Got the idea from someone's personal FWC page - they had made a mosquito net enclosure and also a solid privacy addition. I used an IKEA mosquito net ($20) that is designed to attach to the bottom of a big umbrella. I don't think they sell...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Awning

I'm going to be trying this in the next couple days with mosquito net - will let you know how it works. I'll probably use velcro all the way around. Someone had a personal FWC camper page with a picture of this setup with mosquito net, then a solid section they could attach for privacy. If...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West What is your MPG with FWC ?

I am getting 20.5 with a 2003 Dodge Cummins H.O., quad cab, long bed, and FWC Grandby. It's a manual and that MPG is with the speed at 60-65. Definitely better than I had expected.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Shower Review

Oh yeah, it is 2.5 gallons. I don't think I had it quite full when I tested it. One thing I didn't see (or missed) was the capacity. Is it 2 gallons?

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Shower Review

I just got a pretty cool shower for the FWC. http://www.duckworksbbs.com/gear/shower/index.htm It's a black plastic garden sprayer with a shower head attachment. What I like about it: - It has an on/off button on the shower attachment (grey color in the picture) - this can also be locked...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Fill water tank?

Thanks for all the good ideas on filling the water tank (and getting a power cord)! I'm not planning to drink out of the camper tank - it's more for other uses. If I end up drinking stream water, I'll use a Steripen UV device or boiling to kill the bad stuff if looks questionable. (I have...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Fill water tank?

Thanks for your help, Mike. I'm also going to Alaska for 6 weeks or so this summer. As you can tell, I have a lot to learn before then, but I'm sure I'll end up learning a lot on the way, too. Steve What I carry is a coiled , slinky type water hose. I've found it easy to find potable water...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Fill water tank?

Another newbie question... What is the best way to fill the FWC water tank? I live in an apartment and don't have access to a hose, and I'd also like to fill it from streams, etc. Thanks!

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West External Power Cord?

Hi, Great forum! I just got a 2001 FWC Grandby, and I'd like to get a power cord for shore power at campgrounds. What kind of cord will work, and where can you buy them? I have the large plug that would fit the campground outlet, but nothing else. I don't know much about electronics -...
