RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Soaked Roof Pack/Headliner!?!

Just got back in town and will be repairing the roof this weekend. I am inclined to try the 3M sealant rather than regular silicone. I have used the 5200 and probably won't use that as disassembly would be difficult in the future. I will opt for the 4200 or 4000. Not sure if should get new...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Soaked Roof Pack/Headliner!?!

Certainly looks like I need to replace all the fasteners and seal each hole. Things are drying out and thankfully there has only been a little snow today instead of rain. Should be clear tomorrow afternoon so I will drop the top and then cover the entire roof with a tarp until I can get the...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Soaked Roof Pack/Headliner!?!

Glad to hear it only takes a day or so to dry out. I just checked on things, running a space heater and a fan on one cord appears to me too much so I pulled another cord in there. If I hit the headliner with the backside of my hand water perks through the perforated white liner -- clearly a...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Soaked Roof Pack/Headliner!?!

Thanks for the reply. I've got a heater and fan running in there now. It is supposed to be very cold for the next few days so whatever is in there is likely to freeze. Now I suppose I need to get on the roof and reseal everything I can.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Soaked Roof Pack/Headliner!?!

Greetings all. Been away from the forum for a while. Since I last posted details of my Grandby rebuild I have finished the interior and ended up having the guys at All-Terrain Campers replace my sideliner/softsides and lift panels as time had run out and I don't know how to sew. I discussed...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Grandby Rebuild

First trip in the "new" camper.... Well, I'm back. My wife and I went on our first trip with the camper last weekend to Santa Cruz and points north and I was really hustling to get things done, or at least done enough to get on the road so I couldn't post my progress along the way. Here is the...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Grandby Rebuild

No cabinets, but other stuff... I looked around and saw I had lots of little things to do before I tackled the cabinetry. There was an awning to rehang, a couple of electrical items, aluminum corner trim to put back, and general clean up to do -- the project definitely took over and the single...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Grandby Rebuild

The big push -- going for cabinets tomorrow! Greetings again. I'll post more pics tomorrow, but all the panels are cut and openings trimmed. I decided to pull them out for the finishing -- just easier overall. I used a water based exterior grade polyurethane from Varathane. The water based...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Grandby Rebuild

Grandby Rebuild - Part 2 So after a couple days the floor pack is repaired and I drove to Woodland for the welding work, plus I picked up a few items I needed for the restoration -- gray liner to patch my tan canvas and the black edge tape. Partial floor pack replacement, edges primed Floor...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Grandby Rebuild

Hello WTW forum. I posted once before looking for some advice on broken welds and I thought I'd update you with my progress. I'll start from the beginning. I was looking at a couple used Grandby's on Craigslist and my travels brought me close to this one, which I bought for $1500. It came...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Hello and HELP!

Thanks for the advice so far. I've contacted Ben and per Stan called Chicali. Both have offered good advice and I'll likely go get it welded next week some time. I was anxious to start my reassembly over the weekend, but I've got a lot to do on it so I probably won't waste any time. I'll...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Hello and HELP!

Well, I've been lurking for a while and can finally call myself the owner of a FWC. It's an approximately 1988-1989 Grandby with stove, forced air heat, awning, and 3-way Dometic refer. Paid $1500 plus the cost of going to get it. Me being me I started tearing it apart to dial it in right...
