RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West SOLD - 1997 Ram 2500 Club Cab 4x4 Cummins and 2004 Four Wheel Camper

Sorry for the late reply. Just got home. It has been a crazy night with traffic and such. With my work schedule and the weather (not going to open it all up in the rain), Sunday will likely be the first day I could show it. FWIW, I am in the Mira Mesa area.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West SOLD - 1997 Ram 2500 Club Cab 4x4 Cummins and 2004 Four Wheel Camper

Hello all, after much though I am going to sell our turn key overland rig. This has been a great rig for the last 5 years. It has never let us down, gone everywhere we have wanted to go and comfortable for hundreds of miles at a time. This is a turn key, add your food, clothing and bedding, it's...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How are you carrying your oversized spare with your FWC?

HitchGate has been a perfect solution for us. I found (and see them) mine on Craigslist for about a 1/3 of the cost but having used it for the last 3 or so years, I would gladly pay the full price, if I didn't have fab skills or tools to build a custom bumper.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC stock AGM's vs. 2 6 volt batteries

Okay that makes sense but are we talking an apple to apple comparision on total space needed to house a single 12v versus 2 6v? If the combined space needed for 2 6v batteries takes more room, it would make sense they would have more capacity. What I learned from reading that link is I need to...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC stock AGM's vs. 2 6 volt batteries

So I have read/seen the topic of 2 6v batteries versus 1 12v battery and it seems that many say the 2 6v work better but my question is why?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West full size suspension upgrades

I had National Spring build me a set of front coils and rear springs, which removed the factory lift blocks and overloads. They were built to the weight of the truck loaded (camper stays on 100% of the time). Technically it would be a 2" lift if the camper was off. Bascially it ends up at...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Bed extended?

Ours is extended 100% of the time. I have bounced the stuff out of the sink cabnet and the cutting board off the sink and no issues with the bed being extended. I do have LED lights but never have had an issue with them getting bumped on.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Best truck for my 2002 Grandby?

Having a Grandby on a 3/4 ton, long bed, club cab, Cummins powered Ram, I would likely buy a 1 ton next time around, for the extra GVW rating. Right now, loaded I sit just shy of 8600 lbs. with a 8800 lbs. GVW. I am doing better than some but would like a little more overhead on the rating. I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Where do you park your camper?

Ours lives on the truck full time and it is parked on the street. Camper is locked up and I have an alarm in the truck. Been that way for a few years now. Lately I need to move it every 4-5 days to keep parking enforcement off me but I think that happened when someone else reported a car...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Pulling a trailer while carrying a FWC

I don't normally tow a trailer but I have done it from time to time. This was one haul I towed home.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West LED Bulb replacement issues

Yeah, I was going to add that standard blubs are not polarity sensitive but LED's are. LED stands for Light Emitting Diode and a Diode controls the direction of power flow. If wired backwards, you could result in a short circuit. Good luck.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Registering your pickup as "PM" or noncommercial in Ca. to save weight fee?

I did actually change mine over to an RV registration to remove the $250 weight fee. Haven't been an issue but I also have personalized plates so unless they were ran in the system, no one would ever know there was a change.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West CO Detector Going Off

But that is the LP detector, not the CO detector. The one I bought was a combo with both units into one.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West CO Detector Going Off

I did some research on this and found at the time, the two individual units (one propane, one CO) was not available anymore. The make one that has both units built into one that fits the original cut out. I found it is just slightly smaller so the mounting holes quite line up (actually the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Floor pack problems

I had the same thing but I tore my mount all the way out. Here is the thread I did on reparing mine. 1000's of miles later, on some fairly hardcore trails and washboard and no problems since. I made plates for the top and bottom areas, so the load is distributed over a wider area and I don't...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West They say I am running too much air in my Michelin's

On our Dodge, I am running 60-65 psi front and rear. When I ran it over the scales, loaded up, it was almost a perfect 50/50 distribution. Rides well on highway. Once I hit the dirt, I air down to 40 psi or so. I am sitting at around 8600 lbs. loaded.

My guess, the running lights on the outside of the camper. Should hook to your truck running light circuit.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Arcing/Popping when plugging in Hawk

I get the same thing with mine. My guess is, since there is no "off" button on the charger/inverter, there is always a load being drawn when you plug it into the 110v outlet. Since it's likely to draw a few amps, this would cause the pop/spark you get. It's similar to when you jumper two...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West WHAT IS A FAIR PRICE FOR USED FWC ?

One tip is, be ready to buy immediately. If you think about it, it will be sold. I found ours at a camper dealer that had taken it in on trade. They posted a Craigslist ad on Easter Sunday, which I knew they were not open that day. I called 9am sharp Monday morning and got them walking in...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New to me Grandby

This was my solution... a Tiregate swing out. It mounts into the receiver hitch and has worked great over the last year or so. I have been on hundreds of miles of washboard roads, rock hopping and zero issues. It's has a receiver so you can still tow (7500 lbs. rated) and I towed a car hauler...
