RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 10' vs 8' CO

25% more space with only two more feet - hadn't thought of it that way

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 10' vs 8' CO

Thanks for the input. I'm giving this 10' size a lot of thought. Would like to have that extra space.... ... although that tailgate does come in handy around the ranch....

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 10' vs 8' CO

I'm just afraid that extra 2' will be just too bulky. Parking in cities, back road, etc Also added weight. Is that extra 2' worth it?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 10' vs 8' CO

I am noticing quite a few late model 10' COs for sale. I have been looking for a late model 8'er to replace my '72 but they seem to be scarce. Maybe I need to consider a 10'er. Or maybe I just need to be more patient - after all, this is the middle of the camping season. Anyone wish to comment...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West I bought 1972 Alaskan Truck Camper 10' non-cabover - Working on restoring it

Congratulations on your new oldie. I have a '72 CO. Just recently added an Olympian 3 Cat heater. My 3 burner cook stove top works fine, but I've often thought if I had to replace it, I'd just put in a portable, so I'd have the option to move it out side if I wanted to.

Any photos you can share of your stripped camper.... or are they just too risqué? :)

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Question for those that have reroofed thier Alaskan

What company did you get your aluminum from? Are you going to put it over the old? A body/fender paint shop recommended that for my rig.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Bracket keeps coming loose

I've done that trick before --- --- this time, I slathered epoxy into the hole & the screws - so far it's holding up great --- but then again, I haven't gone anywhere yet :)

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Bracket keeps coming loose

Thanks- got some gorilla glue - epoxy today. Will give it a whirl, with some new no nonsense screws instead of the old worn out ones. Hope I don't find out it's all rotted.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Air Bags Required?

Reminded me a time when I had a safe I just wanted to get rid of - so I advertised it free to the first person who would haul it off. A man came with his beat up pickup - we loaded it with a forklift - the springs went all the way down to the axle - tires were ballooned out - I thought they were...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Bracket keeps coming loose

Just returned from another rough road workout for my '72'. Last trip one bracket holding a front piston came loose - now both of them have come loose. Am thinking this is because of the rough road, and has nothing to do with raising or lowering?? What would be the best way to fix this? Bolts...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West A Doggone Dilemma

Well after a false start trying to make something out of wood paneling, I've finally got something almost completed - my 'back seat doggie bag'. Made a framework out of PVC & stretched canvas from a painter's tarp around it. Now all I need to do is cinch it together - I think I'm going to use...

YW - hope you fine your AC solution. I like the idea from Old & Soft - the "Dog House" AC - but I think the company would do well to redo their marketing strategy - I know only too well feeling like my camper (formerly a trailer) is a dog house :) http://youtu.be/W5RDAQFAh6Q

Too bad they won't make them available for the US market. indel B, an Italian company is working on a 12 volt unit now - SW Cube - looks really nice! http://www.archiexpo.com/prod/indel-b/individual-portable-packaged-air-conditioners-68843-1189107.html indel B also makes a good 12 v fridge...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Olympian Wave 3 Heater

I noticed that the Heatmate takes denatured alcohol - isn't that rather expensive? $20 a gallon. Lol beware - google "heat mate" and you'll come up with all sorts of topics :)

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Olympian Wave 3 Heater

Thought I'd shake the dust off of this thread & get a fresh update - if possible - about heaters. I am familiar with the Atwood furnace - had one in my Burro - it worked great - battery charge was really never a problem for 5 days or less. Over 5 days & the fan was really complaining. This time...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West AC Unit for Campers

I had a window unit for my fiberglass trailer which I thought was more practical than putting a 100 lb unit on top. I'd do the same in my Alaskan if I were heading into high heat & humidity in the southern states for any length of time.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West AC Unit for Campers

The ice cooler idea looks - well, cool ... but then, I imagine spending a bundle on ice if I'm remote. Doubt that would be practical if you're sitting in the middle of the Sahara Desert ... I think I'd limit my use of an AC unit to 120v hookup. Still checking out Atlantis Solar - their "FYI"...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West AC Unit for Campers

I don't like the idea of a 90lb permanently mounted AC unit on top of a pop up camper even if it was a Mach 8 of only 8" height. That's the weight of a sack of concrete. But in some areas and uses, I'd love to have an AC unit. I came across this unit, which mounts to the side of a camper or...
