RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Power issues

I look at battery power as sort of a tripod. One leg is how hot is it? If it's hot, the fridge runs a lot and the fridge is far and away the biggest user of power on most trips for us. The next leg is how sunny is it where the camper is? We have 200W of solar on the roof and the energy into the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Best Procedure for Washing Dishes?

We usually wash outside using a plastic basin with hot water from the water heater (large jobs) or "cooked" water from the stove (small jobs). I like to use the outside shower for rinsing. If inside, we do it pretty much the same as everyone else here but use the sink to wash then stack them in...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Sheets used on FWC campers?

We don't use the pull-out sections so we just use two queen-sized flat sheets and tuck the excess under. Comforter or two depending on expected conditions. Alan

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Comparing 3/4 Ton Trucks: Fuel Economy

My 2010 GMC Sierra 2500 gets about 13 mpg on trips with the camper. Mixed driving with highways, back roads, usually lots of mountains. With the camper on the highway heading to the mountains it gets roughly 16 mph. Without the camper on the highway (a recent trip to San Diego with some...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar Wiring Question

I'm pretty sure the female end should be positive and the male end negative but Paul is absolutely correct about removing all doubt. I put a red electrical tape marker around my positive wires so I know at a glance which is which in case I have to do deal with changing out my solar panels yet...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Measured FWC power use

I chose not to get a Trimetric and spent the money saved on another solar panel figuring that on a small system overkill beats information. I put 200W of flexible panels on the roof and had so much trouble with them that I bought a 100 W rigid panel and mounted on the roof such that I can take...

Rico, I like this setup. I especially like that when you aren't showering you can use the top and bottom as hula-hoops. :) Alan

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West The Ultimate redneck camper!

I don't believe FWC or ATC have a lawn mower option. Not sure why you'd mow the pasture where the cattle are grazing but perhaps it was just for the demonstration. Thanks for posting, Alan

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West More shower help!

Based on this thread, I found the original quick disconnect that I had replaced. It works great. I had tried WD40 before replacing it and maybe this and proper aging (y'know, like wine) returned it to health. In any event, I dropped it in the outside storage with the shower hose and all just in...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West This is one for the book's!

Aaargh. Glad you are telling us this story instead of some Ranger trying to guess how you and Bob decided who would sacrifice himself so the other could go on. Thanks for the tip about checking the door hardware. I'll do it before our next trip. Alan

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West More shower help!

I had this problem a couple of years ago and simply emailed FWC about it. They sent me a new quick connect which I replaced. My camper was still under warranty at the time but it can't hurt to ask. No problem since then but after reading all these posts, I'm wondering whether it wouldn't be a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Picture Brightness

I had a conversation with a friend of mine about a month ago about post-processing. He felt that it was somehow cheating the "true" image the camera had taken. I tried to explain to him that the picture the camera takes isn't really what was there but the camera's "interpretation" of what it saw...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Propane Mangement In A FWC?

The stock FWC has a hose for the propane appliances and you hook it up to one tank at a time. I use your "sophisticated" method. When the first tank is empty I switch and keep an eye out for propane filling options. Don't go through it very fast so never had a problem with this method. YMMV. Alan

I didn't get to wander as much this year, but we did go to Pismo Beach in September for a couple of days. Wasn't expecting too many great photo-ops there, but two of my favorites came within minutes and yards of each other. Alan

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Lightroom Newbie

Based on this discussion , I started the 30 day free trial for LR a little over a month ago. I'm now paying the $10 a month for LR and the latest PS. Really happy with the ease of use for photo organizing and "developing". I've been using various versions of PS for over 15 years and there are...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Insurance questions

I also have USAA and used their connection with Progressive for RVs. As I sometimes have the camper off the pickup, I wanted to be sure it was covered just sitting beside the house. Just over $200 a year - pretty much in line with what others have. Alan
