RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West AT Overland fuel can holder - fuel can help.

Hello FWC fam. Just purchased an AT Overland fuel can holder for my thirsty new Power Wagon and thought I had the correct can to fit but found out Scepter makes two different cans. Turns out the one I need, and is in the photo as an example on the webpage, isn't even for sale in the US? What...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Best Cold Weather Tips

I would second the memory foam. We camp in cold weather all the time and this does the trick. We never get cold and either turn off or set the thermostat to lowest level. We also just use regular sheets and a comforter. Only downside is you must strip the bed of the pillows and comfort after...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Yakima tracks only- best crossbars?

I just installed tracks on mine. The center of the frame rail is 11 1/2 inches from the side of the camper. If you tap on the roof you can feel it, and see the bend of the roof skin. And yes a stud finder worked. And also as someone else has mentioned, I did have wood in a few of the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Replacement Faucet for Dometic Flush Sink, or just aerator?

I installed this one in my build out. Pretty good faucet but a bit pricey for what it is. One thing I wound up doing is epoxying the faucet head on the shaft. I think with time, and heat, it just works itself loose. The faucet head literally shot off the shaft and impaled me in the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar voltage help

Thanks for the replies. So weirdly enough I went back and checked and have full voltage now. Only thing I did was moved my truck into the other stall in my driveway...and yes they both had full sun? Maybe a wire moved and is not grounding now? I will keep an eye on this.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar voltage help

Hello FWC fam. Question on solar. I have a 2017 Hawk that was pre-wired for solar, no controller I am installing my own. What I'm running into is the panel I installed is putting out 20+volts at the plug. The other end of the wire in the battery box is only showing .76 volts? Can thier be...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Screw size for mounting Yakima tracks

Hello FWC family. I know this has been discussed before but I'm mounting tracks this weekend (went with Rhino Rack tracks, Yakima are backordered everywhere...this darn Rona) and needed to know what screws others have used. From memory is it #4 self tapping sheet metal screws? What length...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West AC In Our Hawk

We had the same setup in our sailboat. We found these units in small spaces just don't work. If you notice they only have an exhaust hose....so where does all that air it's exhausting coming from? What we found is its pulled through small opening in the (sailboat) camper...also pulling in the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Furnace won’t spark

Start by cleaning the sail switch. It builds up with lint. I would almost guarantee that's your issue. I also have a 2017 and it did the same thing.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How to bolt down your FWC

Hello all. I would like this to be an instruction/example thread of how others have bolted their FWC to the beds of their trucks. Where they drilled, what hardware they have used, backing plates and any challenges. I am in the process of bolting down my 2017 Hawk but have no clue where to...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper Mounting Bed Damage

If your handy with a torch/grinder start by fabing up larger backing plates first. In my opinion the ones from the factory are too small and do not distribute the load over a large enough area of the bed and will start pulling through the metal. I have the other post with this same issue and...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Backing plates pulling through truck bed

Thought I would follow up on this thread. Since installing the backing plates I fabricated I have had no issues. Had a long week in Moab where I ran Hell's Revenge.... yes with the camper on the back... along with numerous other trails. And have spent about every weekend since in the Nevada...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Backing plates pulling through truck bed

My option right now was to build larger backing plates to distribute the load over a larger surface area. Hopefully that works and I will keep the group updated.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Backing plates pulling through truck bed

Hello all. I emailed FWC last week and Stan forward my email to the service department...twice...never heard from them. Seems to be a trend here....so disappointing. I took the camper completely off the truck this weekend and came to a conclusions of my own. That being a truck bed is...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Backing plates pulling through truck bed

Thanks for all the advice. I'm thinking at this point I might just bolt the camper down, something I have been thinking of doing anyways. The truck is not a daily driver and I have only taken the camper off once, mainly just to see how it's done. I'm thinking if it's bolted down I can try...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Backing plates pulling through truck bed

Factory installed turnbuckles...all this was installed at the factory. Am I using this thing too hard? The rest of the truck has held up great!? Unfortunately I'm not anywhere near the factory....in Vegas.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Backing plates pulling through truck bed

The only question or concerns I have bolting through the frame rail is frames twist. The camper would not be insolated from that. Whereas the truck box is mounted via bushings and has minor twisting motion. Wouldn't the extra twist of the frame cause issues with the camper? I will get photos...
