RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Testimonial #0817

Just got back from camping in the Southern Sierras. Had a great time but the drive there was almost a complete disaster. I left West Hollywood CA Thursday morning and headed up the highway. After having been on the road for about 30 minutes my friend suddenly turns to me and asks “Did you lower...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Cutting off outdoor flaps on older camper

Thanks for all the advice. Since I’ve replaced the Velcro that holds up the window flaps I’ve decided to roll up the rear window flaps and just leave them that way flipping them down in a rain. Ill keep the front awnings where I sleep. Best of both worlds.

Craig. That’s a good idea, but how do you roll them up?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Cutting off outdoor flaps on older camper

I have an Eagle from the early 2000’s. It has the flaps on the outside. They now longer stay up because the velcro is worn out. Borrowing some ideas, using pvc pipe, I made them into awnings but I have grown tired of that solution so I replaced the velcro and they stay up now. One problem...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Water tank gauge

The sensors are still attached to the tank. I wonder If I can find another monitor that I can attach the existing sensors to that would work. Maybe Stan will see this post and have a suggestion.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Water tank gauge

The tank in my 2000 Eagle is opaque white plastic. You really can’t see the water inside.

When I rewired my camper I eliminated the water tank gauge. Does anyone have any suggestions for what I can use to replace it? Todd Homchick

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Mattress for a 2002 Eagle.

I have read many posts about mattresses but can't find a discussion about my particular problem. I apologize if this has been covered before. The 2" thick mattresses that came with my circa 2002 Eagle are just too old and too soft. My hips go right through them. When stored these two...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West More Bamboo

If anyone is interested I have some old bamboo rods I'd be willing to sell. I have two rods by Fred Debell out of Denver they are both 8'6" 5-6 weight rods made from Phillipson and Granger parts. Fred owned a sporting goods store in Denver. When Phillipson and Granger stopped making bamboo...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hanging storage

I'm not a big fan of the cabinet that hangs on the wall above my couch. I don't find it that useful and it doesn't allow me to lean back on the couch without hitting my head. Does anyone have a recommendation for some sort of hanging pouch system that I can put there instead? Todd Homchick

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Easy Roof Lift Device

Not sure what I'm missing here. I see the pole up against the roof and on the floor. What I don't see is how you lift it. Is there a crank or do you use a cordless drill? Todd

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Questions

Does anyone have any photos of screen doors that they have installed where the turnbuckle access sliding doors are. Seems like you would have to make a double track system. Also, although I have a stove in my camper, I've never used it. I always cook outside on a table with a portable propane...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Toyota Tacoma Brakes

I need to replace my brakes. My rotors are shot with a lot of hot spots on them. I need new pads and rotors. Since I am 4-500 lbs over gross vehicle weight I feel I need to choose pads and rotors that can can take the heat due to the extra weight on my truck, especially on the downhill. Any...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West short mattress

Yes I looked at some. The real trick is finding a self inflatable mattress that's 36" wide.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West short mattress

I have an old Eagle camper. I use an Exped Megamat Duo to sleep on. It is super comfortable but there are a few issues. When I use this mattress I have to have the bed platform fully pulled out which cuts the usable floor space down and makes it so I can't use the stove. Sometimes I wish I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Telescopes

The idea of a telescope that is portable and can be used for both viewing the night sky and during the day for viewing wildlife appeals to me. Am I to assume that the night sky viewing suffers when you also want a scope that you can use during the day?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Telescopes

Brian G. I would be willing to spend up to $300.00 Would that get me something a lot better? I am also wondering if a tripod mounted base would be better. If I'm camping out in the desert with no table or good place to put a telescope with that kind of mount Todd

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Telescopes

I've been thinking about getting a telescope to bring camping. I know nothing about them. I would want something with decent optics but also something that you can breakdown and store away and a telescope that can handle the rigors of the road. Something in the vicinity of $200 give or take a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar power system

Free solar power system. Included is the Sharp NE-80EJEA 80 watt solar panel, an Optima D34M 55AH AGM battery, a basic charge controller, fuse block and battery charge indicator that also is the water level gauge. I just need to clear it out of here. Local pickup only in West Hollywood CA Free...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Barrel latch at rear lift panel

The problem is that even when I close the top completely Its really hard to push up the lift panel so that it aligns with the barrel bolt. It makes no difference if the tops is all the way down or if I try to slide the bolt in when I'm lowering the top.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Barrel latch at rear lift panel

For the life of me I always seem to struggle with the barrel latch at my rear lift panel. It is way too hard to line the bolt up with the hole in the lift panel. It's not a side to side thing. It's an up and down thing. Sometimes it seems easy but usually it's really hard. Any advice?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Adding Solar to 2002 FWC Hawk

Getting your wires down to wherever you install your charge controller and then to the batteries is just a small part of what you need to do. I just did this to my 2004 Eagle. I used an existing wire that went to the roof as a “pull wire”. It was installed by making two small incisions in the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Blue Seas ML-ACR 7622 test

I have installed a Blue Sea ML-ACR 7622. I did not install the remote that comes with it. You can manually operate The ACR right on the unit itself. Problem is the remote indicates the status of the unit with LED lights. I do not know how to tell if it’s working without the remote. Can someone...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Heater

I have an old Eagle from the early 2000’s. I picked up an Atwood heater and want to install it. I’m trying to figure out the best place. I have so little storage. I’d hate to lose any. Any suggestions or photos of old Eagles with heaters would be very much appreciated. thanks in advance...
