RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Lost Coast

I was in the Shelter Cove/ Mattole area last week. Drove the Kings Peak road from Shelter cove to Wilder Ridge. Road was in good shape, no need for four wheel drive, although unless you want to drive dirt the Ettersburg road would probably be easier and quicker. The Tolkan campground was nice...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Camper Off Gassing

My wife, who has auto immune, is sensitive to chemicals. She is concerned our new ATC will need time to 'air out'. Has anyone experienced strong chemical smells with their new campers? Thanks for your help.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Bus Depot Awning

Thanks, that looks like a great setup. In the picture I can't see the awning rail detail. How is the tarp attached to the rail and how is it attached to the camper? Just sheet metal screws? Looks like those are adjustable tent poles.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Bus Depot Awning

Anyone ever use one of these? Seems like it might work pretty well, w/ the pole setups, although I wonder how well it would do in the wind. Seems like a good value.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West ARB, Waeco, or Engel

ARB and Waeco have the auto shutoff when the battery is low. All three appear to have good compressors. All three have good reviews, can't find anything bad on any of them. Engel (MT45) holds the least (60 cans), next is Waeco (CF50) (68 cans), ARB (50qt) the most (72 cans). ARB and Waeco seem...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fantastic fan

Rob, did you make a final decision on options for your 6600R? I have the same dilema, not sure what combination would work best with the ocelot. If you have any thoughts on it I'd like to know what you found out. Thanks. I did get this email. What is your roof surface to finished ceiling...

Rob, did you make a final decision on options for your 6600R? I have the same dilema, not sure what combination would work best with the ocelot. If you have any thoughts on it I'd like to know what you found out. Thanks. I haven't yet, although I was told the dome top is stronger than the flat.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 12V Frig Location?

I have ordered a Bobcat shell, and will be modifying to have a bench (each 24" wide) run the length of each wall with storage underneath. Putting on a Frontier crew cab. I am planning on getting an Engel, ARB, etc, either a chest or front opening. I am trying to decide if it's best to have it...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Upgrade Tires/Suspension for 2010 Frontier

I've tried to read all the posts on this subject but it gets more confusing the more I read. I have a 2010 Nissan Frontier crew cab long bed on which I will placing an ATC Bobcat shell. To that I will be adding a 12v refer (in the truck cab), 50 pounds or so, and a battery (in the camper), 50...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Propane and Wave 3

Thanks for the chart, very helpful. The locker tank is not one pound, it is one gallon or four pounds. Using the chart the tank would last 32 hours on high, which is great!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Propane and Wave 3

Just getting the furnace box (without the furnace) is a good idea, however it seems it's not a good use of space for something rarely used. I am planning on benches (that open for storage) running the length of the camper level with each window (I'm getting two windows). Along those lines, this...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fantastic fan

I didn't realize there were so many options for the 6600R. From http://www.rvvent.com/index.htm. They point out that their remote is wireless radio frequency (if that matters). Price seems comparable. We offer a choice of 4 lid colors: White (No light through it), White Translucent (some white...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Propane and Wave 3

I am getting a Bobcat shell and am planning on getting the Wave 3 for heat. I was going to set it up on legs. My question is how do I setup the propane since I will have no vent? Does the propane tank need to remain outside when running the heater, or can I keep it inside and leave a window...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Skiing and Camping - advice...?

All in close proximity in Montana. Discovery, Lost Trail, Maverick, then head south to Targhee and Jackson Hole, or north (a bit) to Bridger and Big Sky ($$). You need to be mindful of Lost Trail and Maverick open Thursday thru Sunday. Around Helena, Great Divide (Wed-Sun) is worth a trip, if...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Real numbers for Engle and solar

Randygirl, When you installed, did you leave two inches air space around the sides and in back? Spoke with Engel and that's what they recommend, although I thought I read somewhere that someone insulated the sides, which might make it more quiet.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Finally pulled the plug on a freezer

Any idea where to get a two zone for the MT45? They have discontinued making them, said the price point was to steep. I really like the idea of the freezer/fridge combination. National Luna makes one, albeit the cost is high, but probably not that high if you add the cost of the two zone to the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Auxiliary Battery Placement

I am planning on installing an auxiliary battery with isolator. For optimum charging, where is the best location for the auxiliary battery, in the camper, or in the engine compartment? Or does it matter? If I add solar does the battery need to be as close as possible to the panel or can in sit...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Teaser ?

I wouldn't want to lose the overhead sleeping area, but this Alaskan design looks interesting. I am planning on building my shell similiar. I would think it would be best to have the weight centered as it is in these pics. Check out the pic of the refer. I don't think I would have the shelf go...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Engel refrigerators and solar systems.

Randygirl, thanks for your reply. If you are powering three items (vent fan, refer, and lights) and each is wired seperately then there would be six wires terminating at the controller?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Engel refrigerators and solar systems.

I'm confused what the load terminals are. Do all the wires for the refer, vent fan, lights, etc just hook up to the battery terminals (or solar controller if used), or is there some sort of fuse box? Thanks.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar Panel Mount

Is an 80 watt panel to small to power an Engel MT45 or SR48F and a fantastic fan (lights will be LED)? Is the 120 watt more appropriate? By my calculations it is, but I could be way high. I figure around 50AH for the fridge and 15AH for the fan for peak demands. What would an appropriate size...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Outside Storm Flaps

I like what I see and read about the ATC camper, but the storm flaps over the windows on the otuside concerns me, as they seem difficult to close, although I haven't read many complaints. Any thoughts? Can you leave them rolled up when you close the top? If so, then I imagine the clear cover on...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Phoenix vs FWC

Thanks for the replies. I spoke with Phoenix yesterday, and they said they use no particle board, just plywood for both the floor and cabinets, and aluminum and foam for the walls. I think she said luan siding. Maybe they used particle board in the past.
