RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hallmark to start offering flatbed campers

    1. It's not a problem if the filler design is correct. That said, I think many are done incorrectly. My filler is in the front corner of the deck, under a little 5" x 5" trap door. I think it has more fall than the stock setup. Normally that location would be a problem, but I'm building an...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2017 f-350 service body-warrenty

I doubt you will have any warranty issues, unless the installer were to do something that impacted some other "system" on the truck. F350's are available with a "pickup box delete" option, intended for this very purpose. I have a 2017 F350 with the standard pickup bed. I am currently building...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Additonal Sleeping Platform Mod in Panther?

You have the right idea, just "upside down". You need to support it from below. You pictured flexible straps from above. For a popup, you need rigid struts from below.

Really man, bragging you've got a new camper on the way, and no pictures after the install?? You should be banned from this site. :D

Bill D, Really can't argue with anything you said, they're all valid points. Most importantly, you have to keep the GF happy! I will agree, you are a little OCD on the cleaning, and so am I. My F150 got full Husky liners the day I bought it. Shoes never touched the carpet in that truck. I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West f-350 winch bumper

I would love a winch bumper for my F350. What's stopping me is the issue with airbags, the weight, and the high cost. For now, I'm resisting the urge. However, this thread is not going to be helpful in terms of self control. Please, no one post pictures! :D

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Paralysis by Analysis on Ram 3500 vs. F-350

It seems years ago, vinyl floors in vehicles were really cheesy, didn't fit well, kind of wrinkly, etc.,. I have to say what Ford has in their trucks fits like a glove, and looks great. I draw the line at vinyl seats. Yes, they are good for wet and dirty conditions, but they are so hot in the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Paralysis by Analysis on Ram 3500 vs. F-350

Bed strength isn't the only thing I'm worried about. Here's something I missed in my research of the all aluminum 2017's. You need to be very careful how you attach anything to the aluminum body, or you're going to experience galvanic corrosion. It never occurred to me until after the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Paralysis by Analysis on Ram 3500 vs. F-350

I'm really anal about my truck. I won't let anyone eat in it, and the only liquid allowed is water. I've taken quite a bit of "heat" for that rule. Story: Wife, I, and a long time friend and his wife were going to go somewhere in my truck. The friend has his big gulp. I said no way is that...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Paralysis by Analysis on Ram 3500 vs. F-350

I just bought a 2017 F350 crew cab, XL trim, 4x4, 6.2 gas. I'm very partial to Ford, as I've had several Ford trucks, and all were trouble free. Dodge? A friend is on his second. Why he bought it, I have no idea, as the first was nothing but trouble, and he complained about it all the time...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Struts to lift roof - and no lift panels or EMT lifters?

It is possible to have a lift system that does not use lift panels or tube lifts. I did it years ago when I built a FWC knock-off for my 90 F350. The roof lifted using gas struts on "V" shape lift arms It did take some legs and back to get the lift started, but once is was up about 8", it...

Stokeme, Not to add stress here, but I just sold my 2013 F-150 Super Crew, and bought an F350, crew cab, long bed, 4x4. My F150 didn't have as much capacity as yours will (1700 lbs), but I just couldn't do what I want. I had done some weight calcs on what we carry, and with just an 800 lb...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West ATC Manx Flatbed Camper: 2nd Generation

Nice truck! I've been thinking about upgrading from my F-150 SCrew. My biggest problem is trying to decide on cab and bed size. Your truck doesn't look any longer than mine. I really want a crew cab long bed, but they're 20 miles long.

Ok, I see my post was gobbled up by the system. Trying again... "...Really nice camper, if it had a furnace I would be on my way..." That's an easy fix. I've removed the furnace from every small RV I have ever owned. They eat your battery alive, and waste about 50% of the propane. Install an...
