RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Recommendations -> Aluminum Floor Jack?

I know I'll take some flak but... I have a couple floor jacks in my home shop. My son bought me the Harbor Freight aluminum jack. It is my go to jack now. I have had NO ISSUES in 2+ years now. I would buy another in a heart beat if needed another...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Factory Air Conditioning

The AC unit is a small 5K unit. Since removed I see how it's mounted and it won't go anywhere. It actually has a 180 degrees of aluminum brace attached to frame. Then there is additional (maybe steel?) mounting brace on outside and aluminum fascia on inside to actually screw it in. Then...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Factory Air Conditioning

I have removed mine so AC repair can check out. I have also ordered a new one. After trying to remove I'd say it's mounted VERY WELL! I also agree they probably take a beating. I know in my almost 5 years it has got a workout. If broken beyond repair I am also satisfied it lasted this long. Oh...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Driving a FWC with roof in wedge mode?

Hate to see what would happen if from latches released at 60MPH. I agree the time savings do not seem worth the risk but whatever floats your boat.

Thanks Beach! Where in TX are you located? I'm trying to organize a group Meetup here in TX of FWC owners. If interested please PM me your email addy. I found a replacement unit on Amazon for $172... might just go that route. I'm just not sure how hard to replace as current unit looks pretty...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Factory Air Conditioning

I realize not a lot have the factory AC but here in TX I required it... keeping wife happy. I have a 2015 Hawk Side Dinette. Have used AC frequently but not for past couple months. Just returned form a 3 week trip up to Maine and back. Enjoyed the cool weather up there but when got back south...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Mounting Rear Wall Steps

I have the rear steps on my 2015 Hawk. Have NEVER even tried to use them. Total waste as far as I'm concerned. I hang things on them once in awhile and use as a hand hold when cleaning. No idea how the factory decided where to install each step. Seems just around whatever was in the way :(

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Which way to orient camper?

Personally I'd try and keep refrigerator out of the sun as long as possible but mine is dual and not propane. I also deploy side and rear awning to add shade inside. You do not mention a breeze but I consider that too. FOLLOWING for additional input :)

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fantastic Fan Pulse Width Modulation Modification

Vic, it was your post that concerned me and why I made my install pretty easy to go back to stock. However, I am lucky and no harmonic whine from coil. Also there was another good post and an on/off switch was added. My PWM actually clicks to off position and if reverse switch is in mid position...

I was getting differing info or just not getting what was required. If you have done this mod and have additional info please reply. If...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West SmittyBuilt Jerry Can Holder attachment

I have a Hawk on my F250 short bed. I did about the same with mount of spare Jerry can. I used an AT holder though very stout. In the bottom of the mount I drilled down through the steel bumper to bolt. I made a flat steel "adapter" bolts to AT mount and then I used the threaded hole in truck...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Get camera + wires out of SuperDuty tailgate? (Camera Source fix is $496)

I got a camera from a damaged tailgate in local Pick n Pull. Then just plugged it into the harness where tailgate harness goes. Easy fix after making a makeshift mount for the camera right under the Hawks door.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Recommendations on bug removal products

Anybody ever try a Mr Clean type cleaning sponge / pad on the PVC material for the brown discoloring that builds up? I've used for bugs and it works fine. Just not sure how abrasive on the PVC material?
