RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Extra padding in a 2008 Eagle

I took out my factory foam mattress and replaced it with (2) 2 1/2" memory foam mattress toppers from Costco. I think they were around $138 each(queen). So now I have a 5" thick foam mattress that compresses when the top is down and its WAY more comfortable. They were both easy to fit in the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Off road flood lights

Yeah, I dont have the expertise or history with lights to know. I figured the higher up, the more light can flood forward. I agree that the wiring will be more of a pain but Id rather not have to buy a light bar or bull bar to put em on. Any opinions?

OK, thats what I had in mind. Any pro's vs cons as far as that location? Anything you would do differently? Also, to mount it, did you bolt through the aluminum, or screw into it? I was thinking with all the vibration bolting through it would be best... Thanks!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Off road flood lights

Im considering installing some Hella Rallye 1000 lights to the front of my camper and I was wondering if anyone has tried it? I have a 2008 Tacoma with a Finch camper. I installed the HID headlights and fog lights which are very bright but not the complete results Im looking for. What I had in...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Looking for Finch reviews

Hey man- just thought I'd post up about my Finch. Ive had it on my 08 Tacoma for about 2 years now. I love this thing! It has taken me from Cabo to Canada. I've honestly put about 700 miles of baja dirt roads on it and I've never had a single serious problem. I get a lot of compliments on the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Voltage regulator recommendation?

Thanks for the great information! I will look in to a UPS unit. It would suck to have to resort back to a cooler if I fried my fridge....ahhh the old days.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Voltage regulator recommendation?

Thanks for the reply, I think I understand what your saying is that a simple Home Depot surge protector would work for this application. Im basically worried about frying any electronic components of my camper like the fridge, heater, water pump, ect. ect. Im guessing that the campers circuit...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Voltage regulator recommendation?

Headed south for an extended Mexico trip. I have been told that it would be wise to have a voltage regulator to attach between my camper and the AC power supply( due to fluctuations of the power). I dont want to fry my electronics 1000 miles away from home. Does anyone have a voltage regulator...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West NewWEDCO 5gal gas can non-CARB compliant

I recently found 3 of the old WEDCO non CARB compliant gas cans. I only need two but decided to buy them all because I new what the demand was. Its 5 gallons(20L), sale includes the filler nozzle. This can has never been used, the gaskets are in perfect condition. As you know, these cans are not...

All states have discontinued the old cans. They can only be bought in Canada but they wont ship to the US. The Septor cans are good and affordable, I just know people are still out there looking for the WEDCO...Who'da thought people would spend a few hundred dollars or more on a snorkle for...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Boring topic... water cans

I like the collapsable 5 gallon containers. When your finished with it, you can collapse it down and easily store it. No need for empty jugs in or on your rig taking up space. There are many brands out there if you do an internet search...

Definitely Eagle....you won't be disappointed. Those inches in a small camper are so precious. Food for thought. I went with the Finch in my Tacoma and Im glad I did. I can still use the tailgate. It makes a great porch to wipe off you feet, change out of wetsuits, use as a seat, cook on or...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West breaking out_ buying new FWC Eagle

I have a Finch on my 09 Taco. My two cents... 1) Do yourself a favor and get airbags before you put your camper on your truck. It ill be more of a hassle to do it later with the additional weight of the camper(Its around 900 lbs with the options). It will make the drive home more comfortable...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Four Wheel Campers Review - Member Input

Love my o9 Finch on my 4x4 Taco. I been from deep baja to freezing Canada with every condition in between. The 4WC handles it all. I think it's been the best thing I've ever bought. It gets me out WAY more often and there has been no restrictions on its abilities...I now have six friends that...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West What is the coldest night used in your rig?

Yes I do ski from my camper, mostly around ebbets pass, carson pass, and the east sierra. Last night I just stealthed it after a concert though. It only got down to +8F and I slept like a baby until 9am.

Driving in Baja/Mainland tips... 1. Get Mex insurance. You will need additional coverage for mainland Mex(most companies). If you drink and drive, then get in an accident, your insurance policy will be invalid. 2. Get a tourist Visa if your headed south of Guerro Negro(1/2 way point). You will...

The safest way in is through San Felipe and Gonzaga although Sunny and TT will probably disagree. It seems the trouble spots are from TJ down to San Quintin. And there is always safety in numbers. Just my dos pesos.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Refridgerator vent screening

Somehow that idea just doesn't sound good. Maybe you'd consider making a cover for the vents while on the road, and not using the fridge?? That would probably be the best solution...thanks!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Refridgerator vent screening

I was thinking the same for my new camper. I was going to buy a house air filter at home depot, cut it down to size and possibly hot glue it in, I thought it could definitely breath but was skeptical on the heat being able to escape...any thoughts???? One trip to Baja and the whole refrigerator...
