Exactly, lots of side canyons to explore. We had a blast exploring up the canyon from Castle Butte

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Oct 21 - 24 Group Utah Campering Gathering

This is a nice area for a larger group. In the little ravine, it forms almost a micro-amphitheater where somebody had built a fire ring. We hadn't found it till we were packing up to leave which disappointed me. Would have been a real nice way to enjoy a campfire in a unique place...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Finally drank the trimetic kool aid

Thanks! Make sure you have a good template, I did mine on a thin piece of cardboard that was a little flimsy. Cutting the overhead wasn't too tough. Hard part was figuring out what to cut the intricate corners with. Bernard, that's a great approach. I would think you could make it modular...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Finally drank the trimetic kool aid

You'll be happy you have it. A lot better than trying to see where things were just with voltage (which is always skewed by solar input). Flush mounting the face isn't too tough, just make a real good template and be patient with the cut out. The notches in the PC board for the mounting...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West CA-89/44 McCloud to Susanville

Thanks all! I knew there would be useful knowledge of the area from this group. I've been wanting to explore this whole area more but haven't gotten the chance yet. Have gone through a few times over the past year or two, but always in a hurry to somewhere else. Always wishing I could stop...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West CA-89/44 McCloud to Susanville

Thx. I always worry that I'll end up just settling for something like an empty parking lot, then the next day find out if I would have traveled just a mile or 2 more... The Falls do look incredible, worth a few hours to see them.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West CA-89/44 McCloud to Susanville

I'm sure many here have some knowledge of this route. We're heading down to Big Pine from Seattle for a wedding and to just plain get away. Like most of our trips, the first part is rushed. My plan is to head out early Thursday AM (mid-August) and make a long day driving. I'm thinking we...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Newbie electrical question

I'm assuming they charged you for the access to the power whether you used it not, most "RV" type campgrounds do. The 110 would be good for anything you would need. If you carry an extension cord, get one with the pilot light in the receptacle, that way you can be sure it's powered. Carry a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hallmark Owners - How did you attach your Maxtraxx?

Played around yesterday with Maxtraxx/Trash-A-Roo mounting on the rear ladder. Should work out pretty well. Will have to see if there's any strange wind effects as it will stick above the roof line by about 8-10". Don't think it will be a problem

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hallmark Owners - How did you attach your Maxtraxx?

Here's inside and out. Basically just some carriage bolts through the wall with fender washers, double nuts, and mushroom caps to cover the bolt ends in the cabinet.

Now that's funny! No wonder they were so cheap!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hallmark Owners - How did you attach your Maxtraxx?

It's an Aluminess kit that Hallmark offers. http://www.aluminess.com/accessories/recovery-gear/ Basically it's just through bolted with the hardware inside of the cabinet in our configuration. I'll get some pictures of both sides tonight.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hallmark Owners - How did you attach your Maxtraxx?

For me I'm thinking a little north of 2400. Loaded with full water and gear, fuel full and 2 passengers I hit the scales at 11,000. I have collected some heavy "stuff" that I still think I need to carry a long that I need to go through. The truck is about 7800 empty Sent from my STV100-2 using...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hallmark Owners - How did you attach your Maxtraxx?

Well, I'm in the same boat. I ordered some straps (strapworks.com, great place for any kind of straps you might need) and can attach them to the ladder. They stick up over the the top and actually haven't brought them along attached there yet. That's where I hang my Trash-a-roo and haven't...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Diesel Fuel

a write up on fuel/water seperators http://www.filtsep.com/view/1727/fuel-filtration-protecting-the-diesel-engine/ Diesels do come with a separator from the factory, don't how much better aftermarket ones are, other than probably just have more media to help. There's not really any way to tell...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Diesel Fuel

Drain the water separator into a glass jar and see how much water is actually in the fuel. Sounds like it's doing it's job and has collected enough to set off the alarm. Basically it's just a couple of contacts at the bottom of the collector, when water (heavier than diesel) builds up enough...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Lanterns, flashlights and lighting - post yours

Anytime I go to Harbor Freight during a sale, I pick up a couple of these little 27 led lights, they have magnets so you can stick them to camper jacks, etc. and/or little hooks to hang them. Not great but cheap and available enough to have a few. Some of their sales they will be 2 for 1 at...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2015 Ford F-150 Aux 12V Power

Have him pull the fuses at the camper battery, and see if the truck powers the lights/fridge, etc. Of course it wouldn't surprise me if it only provided power when in gear and/or above a certain RPM.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2015 Ford F-150 Aux 12V Power

Seems like a simple enough thing, until you take into account that everything is now made to automate everything to point that it will only do what IT thinks you should do, not what you need. I found a thread on F150Forum talking about the same thing. Didn't seem to have a definitive answer...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Project Fi + Campering locations?

I believe Project FI runs on the Sprint network for cell based coverage. When it jumps to WiFi it will be greatly dependent on the WiFi networks capabilities and it's actual throughput to a network hub

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Lance 650

It'll be interesting to see your perspective on the comparison of traveling with a tall hardside vs. a pop up. I imagine daily living it it will probably be a little easier, but probably an adjustment driving. As Happyjax said, watch out for those bridges!
