Well after six years with a Hawk we went with a new Lance 650. It is going to be quite an adjustment. I was real used to low roof height and light weight. The new lance is about 12 feet to the top of the AC. Weighs 1850 or so with water and gas. But the wife wanted an enclosed bathroom and shower, more room and a few other things.

Time will tell how it goes. I do pull a Jeep and this new model does not extend beyond the bumper so no new attachments needed to pull my toad. I am going to be more circumspect when hitting the forest service roads and going on forest service roads to my dispersed camping spots.

It'll be interesting to see your perspective on the comparison of traveling with a tall hardside vs. a pop up. I imagine daily living it it will probably be a little easier, but probably an adjustment driving. As Happyjax said, watch out for those bridges!

I'm thinking about going to the Lance 650 from a 2005 4WC Eagle.

What are you general thought so far about the 650?
Construction quality: Interior/frame/exterior/etc.
Ease of install/removal
How does it do on Forest Service and other similar roads?
How well does it seem like heater works and how well does it hold heat once heated? or cooled

I don't do any serious off roading I am just looking for something that is a quality camper and will hold up well to frequent use in snowy and cold environments.
