RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West LED Bulb replacement - exterior porch lights

The switch on my porch light gets dusty and stops working. I have to turn it on and off about 50 times to clean things up and get it working reliably again.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West LED Bulb replacement - exterior porch lights

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002BK06LA?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00 I ordered this back in Dec 2011. I bought three and one was the wrong item and not worth returning. I think others had the same issue with getting the wrong item. It was not prime back then. Steve

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How many charging amps from IOTA?

The IOTA (no IQ4) is designed to deliver about 13.6 volts. If you check the charging voltage and it is around 13.6 volts and you do not have the IQ4, it is working properly. With the IQ4, I think it acts more like a charger than a battery and the charging voltage will be higher than 13.6...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Battery Age affects charging (trickle or solar)

I'm a little off topic but I feel, having solar panels on my camper should help make my batteries last longer because they don't discharge as deep, as long as I don't do anything stupid (which I sometimes do). Doubt it would ever pay for the solar panels but kind of helps me justify having them...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Backstop Behind Bench Seat

Behind my bench seat gets cluttered pretty fast. I doubt others have as much trouble as I do because I seem to use it as a "catch everything" area and am always throwing junk back there. What I want to resolve is, when I tilt the bench seat forward so I can paw through all the junk behind the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West I thought California to Alaska was cool and then......

I think we picked up most of the scum here in the Deadhorse area. Road was in much better shape than I expected. Worst part was washboard on maybe the last 20 miles. Another picture.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West I thought California to Alaska was cool and then......

Mike and I drove our Hawks from Northern California to Deadhorse Alaska. We walked out of the Prudhoe Bay Hotel earlier today and met a husband and wife that just got out of their car that came from Victoria Brazil. And their trip is just beginning...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Atwood hot water system

In my Hawk, there are two valves near the water pump. One drains the HW. They need to be in the correct positions. I usually use trial and error on the valves. You should be able to turn the pump on, open the hot water faucet and feel air coming out, which means the HW tank is filling with...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New door latch.

I am probably just repeating what others have already said. We stopped by FWC last week and both Mike and I requested the new door latch. I then changed my mind. Mike installed his and it looks good. The replacement rubber for the old door holder is not really that expensive, although it...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tire help and running lights are not working

Thanks Tule Creeper for the fuse pointer. I have not got together with Mike to look a it yet. It will be sometime this week. He said he checked the fuses but this one may be hidden. His Hawk is slightly older than ours. I think 2010. I know the wiring in his is a little different than mine...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tire help and running lights are not working

I am not stuck on Michelin. I just remember a thread here that I was unable to locate when I needed it now, where a number of people liked the Michelin tire. I still have a small amount of tread on my current tires but, because they are 6 ply and I we are heading to Alaska in the middle of...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tire help and running lights are not working

Perfect! I plan to go into Costco and see exactly which tire they are selling. I could probably figure it out on the web but need to go in anyways. Sure wish I had a new truck. :( Steve

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tire help and running lights are not working

Thanks for the help on finding the running lights problem. This really was more of a question to see if anyone else had their running lights go out, which could help Mike and I find the problem quicker. Electronics is my hobby so I am pretty well set on tools although that circuit tester looks...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tire help and running lights are not working

Thanks Llavaseur, I went into Costco today and they have a sale on Michelin tires coming up on May 4th. Now I need to see if that is the one that will be on sale. He showed me two E rated tires. One was more M&S while the other was more of a street tire. With a 2WD old loud truck, I lean...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tire help and running lights are not working

Time to replace my tires on my truck. I will get E rated tires. I want Michelin tires and just want to make sure, when I go into Costco, that I order the correct tires. I searched the forum because I remember someone posting the part number for the tires in a thread (I swear I saved a link to...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Advice to prospects and buyers of campers with compressor refrigerators

One thing that I think about when it comes to solar panels is, they can extend the life of your batteries because they reduce the depth of discharge. So, even if you don't have a system that uses lots of power, solar might still be worth considering. Maybe just a smaller system. Steve

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Bed extended?

I travel with my bed extended on occasion. Since I have a 2WD pickup, I am not sure I can answer for off road. Although, lots of washboard roads. When the camper was delivered, the bed was extended and the table was stored in that area. I don't travel with the extra bed pads since it is just me...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Water Tank Drain Spigot - Drip

It should not be happening. On mine, the valve is parallel to the back of the camper when off, although I am guessing you know where off is. :) You could try opening and closing the valve a bunch of times to see if it clears up. Careful not to break the valve handle! Slim chance a piece of...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West No see-um bug netting

I am planing a trip to Alaska this spring-summer. It seems like No-see-ums are a problem up there as well? I have been following this thread because I seem to have read that it is a problem. Any input? Steve

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Roll over couch question

I have slept on the roll over couch a couple of times alone, when I did not want to open the camper. It worked fine alone. The answer to 1 above is I would not want to try two adults on the bed unless they are on their honeymoon. Answer to 2 is it would be pretty tight or impossible. It seems...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Adding a lithium Ion battery to FWC

If you are wondering if the battery separator is staying closed when it should be open, you can put your volt meter on each side of the separator to see if there is a voltage difference. If the meter reads zero volts or very close to zero, I would think that indicates the separator has the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Sliding Front Window and Boot

I got the pop out window and, I am thinking, I got the boot at a later time. I have an old truck so the scratches don't bother me. They will when I get a new truck someday. I have crawled through the window a couple of times because I had just jumped in bed and realized that I left something...
