RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Trick for adding landing pad to Yak Track ?

@Wandering Sagebrush - Based on my experience with the new FWC's, the tracks come loaded with extra Yakima stainless steel nuts installed in the tracks (2016 Hawk) so you can easily add more landing pads. I have at least 2 (maybe 4) extra nuts per track in addition to the 4 landing pads that...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Replacing Ice Box with 2 Way Fridge

@ Helimedic I have one of the top opening Engels. The swing compressor does make a little noise and vibration, but I have not found it to be a problem. I did notice that it makes much less noise, if the sides and handles are not touching anything.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fantastic Fan variable speed control

I completed the mod this evening. Thanks to all those that posted how they did it! I bought the same PWM controller that Ski linked to. Can't believe the thing was only $6.15 + $1.00 shipping all the way from China. No additional costs incurred other than a little time, since I already had...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hawks Side dinette and adult sleeping room

Here is a picture of my side dinette as promised earlier. There are a few more similar pics in my gallery. I tried the bed out again and decided I could definitely sleep on it. Have slept on much worse. The little cupboard is not in the way at all on my Hawk. You will notice the two 1/2"...

I agree with Billharr. The seat portion is much stiffer than the regular cushions. What I did was use 2 left over pieces of 1/2" foam board (which I had purchased to make the top bunk level with the pullout portion) and put them under the forward cushion. Seems to be much more comfortable...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Charging from shore power

Yep, sounds normal. If you have the Iota charger, it'll keep charging until you get to 13.6 volts then the amps will go to zero. When you are drawing power from the batteries, the charger puts just enough amps in to cover it, so the net amps on the trimetric will be zero when you are at 13.6...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Adding Shore Power and Fuse Panels

Thanks for the reply's. DrJ - I've looked into the Blue Sea products and their catalog contains a lot of great stuff. I'll post pics of the install once I figure it all out and get going on it. My shell model does have the fuse panel for all the 12V circuits located on the drivers side about...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Adding Shore Power and Fuse Panels

This forum has been great! I did a google search of the forum prior to posting this, but was unsuccessful in finding what I was looking for. So, if anyone has can find a link to an older post it would be much appreciated. I recently had my new FWC Hawk Shell installed and now it is off the...

Chris - You reminded me of what my installer said. I think the door was open, but will give it a try again tomorrow. Thanks for the reminder. Rookie mistake on my part if it pops up easily tomorrow. Good luck trout fishing.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Lift Struts

I had the new Hawk shell installed last week. Got home and the temperatures were in the high 30's F and the top popped up very easily. The camper is now sitting in the cold garage on a wheeled dolly. After several days of sub-zero F temps, it warmed up today to the mid 20's F. Thought I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Finally sprung for a FWC

Reggie - The Engel is model MR040F-U1 (40 quarts). Had to take the right handle off so it would fit where it is. Just enough room to access the left front turnbuckle hatch when it is pushed all the way forward. Need to move it out an inch or 2 to open the lid. Here are the specs on it Engel...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Finally sprung for a FWC

Update: Picked up my brand new FWC Hawk shell (with lots of added options) yesterday from Sean Dempsey at Go Anywhere LLC in Eagle, WI. They even filled one of the propane tanks for me. Great folks to deal with. Truck handled the 300 mile trip back just great, other than the expected 2.5...
