RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Grandby questions

Grandby top bunk without pullout is 76" X 47". With pullout cushions added it is queen size. Pullout option is now standard. Grandby made in the 80s may not have the pullout if the original owner did not purchase that option. Top bunk without pullout could sleep two kids easy. Two adults would...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West rear solar socket not working

Is the rear plug connected to the battery? I had to connect mine myself. They usually do not connect the plug to the battery at the factory unless you order the camper with solar panel included. The wires to connect are in the battery compartment. They will be labeled "rear solar plug." As a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West LED light change?

I don't care for overhead lights neither LED nor incandescent. I don't use them often. I prefer lamp light so I got one of these: http://store.sundancesolar.com/12v-dc-desk-lamp/ You can use whatever color bulbs that suit you. I prefer white or warm white.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Pick Up Camper and Immediately Head Out?

Run the furnace a couple of times. There is a residue that will set off your smoke detector. It burns off before long, though.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West my trip to Colorado

I just returned from Colorado - about 1200 miles one way. This was my first real tryout of my 2014 Grandby. I traveled light - no solar panel or generator, & I didn't fill the water tank because I knew I'd have everything I needed at my destination. I stopped in Denver to ask directions. The...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Turning Fridge Off

The Dometic 65 liter does indeed turn off. Turn the temp control switch all the way counter clockwise. It is a hard switch and it takes some considerable force to turn it off. My FWC dealer told me about the hard switch and he was right. It takes considerably more force than one would think...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Paint the roof?

A full service RV place should be able to install a rubber roof on the camper. That would hide the dents, stop any leaks, and it's repairable/replaceable if need be. It would also mitigate any further hail damage to the aluminum roof.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West my mods

Too high and you won't be able to reach it easily when entering from outside. It's very handy to have something to hold onto to keep the door from swinging open out of reach. Besides, there is already a curtain on the door window.

The FWC Ready to Go Anywhere Package included a collapsible 5 gallon water container and a hose for the purpose of draining the gray water. The containers are also available at Walmart for about $5. It has a small vent on top. A smaller container would work nicely - after all, how much water are...

Very nice mods! What material did you use to fabricate the sides of the new rear box? Thanks! Sides are 8" X 1/2" pine boards. Floor is 1/2" plywood Bracing underneath is also 8" X 1/2" pine. Bracing conforms to the curves on the vehicle floor. It is very sturdy and will hold any amount...

Here are some pictures of some modest modifications I have made to my 2014 Grandby: Here's my baby. It sits nicely on my 2006 Ford F150. I installed load bearing shocks (the kind with the spring on the outside) before the camper was installed. No noticable sag even fully loaded. Seems to ride...
