Run the furnace a couple of times. There is a residue that will set off your smoke detector. It burns off before long, though.

A full service RV place should be able to install a rubber roof on the camper. That would hide the dents, stop any leaks, and it's repairable/replaceable if need be. It would also mitigate any further hail damage to the aluminum roof.

Too high and you won't be able to reach it easily when entering from outside. It's very handy to have something to hold onto to keep the door from swinging open out of reach. Besides, there is already a curtain on the door window.
