RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West lookn at a dodge 2500 sd hemi, manual 4x4

I've had two different 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 diesels. I loved the first one so much that I bought a second with a quad cab due to an impending baby. With the 2005 you don't have any smog crap (except for a catalytic converter) and no DEF. With my first 2005 I had 140k miles when I sold it and...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New FWC Hawk Options - Now vs Later?

I love the smooth siding! When we ordered the camper the smooth siding was not an option for me - it was a must have. When I came home I rinsed the dust off and it looks like new again.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New FWC Hawk Options - Now vs Later?

Just got back from the first trip with the family and the new Hawk. We did an overnight trip to Limekiln SP in Big Sur and we had a great time. The weather was incredible and we got one of the primo camp sites. We did a hike up past the other campsites and saw an ATC Ocelot (on a dark colored...

The purchase of my new Hawk and the use of the drill adapter on the jacks justified my recent purchase of a Milwaukee 18 volt cordless drill and driver combo pack to replace an old DeWalt drill driver...

bdold, They are Exide AGM batteries. I believe they are these: http://www.exide.com/us/en/product-solutions/transportation/product/exide-edge-marine-rv-agm.aspx BTW< I've got quite a few NR points for deer (11), elk (12) and pronghorn (6) in CO. If you have any good advice on how to use...

There is a special wooden cover that goes over the batteries then another hinged lid goes down over them too. I don't plan on storing anything under the hinged lid above the batteries.

The containers don't budge at all. I think the straps are screwed down to prevent them from moving. It's a pretty clean set up IMO.

Here's a pict of the dual batteries from my new Hawk I picked up a week ago. I haven't touched the batteries at all. This is how FWC set them up.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Sub-zero Cold Cold Highway Travel

Thought I'd take a pict for inquiring minds and my own clarification too. You can see the pipe coming out of the rear of the HWT and then it comes to a "T". If the valve to the right of the "T" is closed as in the pict the water stops there and doesn't flow anymore. If you open the valve it...

I'm a new owner of a Hawk, but was told at the Factory last week when I picked mine up that the HWH will drain back to the fresh water holding tank by opening the valve directly below the water pump. I've mentally traced the water lines and it looks like this is how it's plumbed. Refer to...

I'm happy that my way of lowering the camper is the way of the populous. I'm OK with the speed as long as that is how it's done and there's no way around it. I also appreciate everyone that weighed in and commented on how they do it and to those that provided some pointers on how I can do it a...

winks, I have a Dodge Ram 2500 that is stock, but has a tall bed. If I added wood or adjusted the saw horses up so that all I had to do was drop the camper 1/2 inch the bottom of the camper would be at 36 inches off the ground. Talk about too tall and very hard to get in and out of. I'd...

I bought one of the drill adapters from FWC when I picked up the camper. Without it I can only imagine it taking forever to lower or raise. The thought of ever removing it once at a destination for whatever reason is gone.

So yesterday I removed the new Hawk from the truck after a week of driving with it on and will leave it off until the next trip. After my first time removing it from the truck I had a couple of very basic questions. 1. When you pull the truck away and the camper is sitting there on all four...

I did the same thing as rayct77 with my credit union. I was offered the used value of our Volvo at 1.95%. IMO this is the best option out there to finance a FWC.

Awesome WS! Good luck on trying to stay out of it. I got mine on the other day and I can't stay out of it. My neighbors are probably starting to wonder what I'm doing out there sitting in the camper with the lights on.

I'm interested in installing a Battery System Monitor in my new Hawk and I know there are a lot of Battery System Monitoring devices out there (e.g. Tri-metric, Blue Sky, Morningstar, etc.). Can someone recommend a high quality monitor that can be used now and in the future with a solar system...

Riverrunner, I'm with you on leaving the camper plugged in at all times until I want to use it. I'm hoping the smart charger keeps the batteries in great shape for a long time. If there's any issue with leaving the camper plugged in to charge the batteries through the converter w/ smart...

@idahoron - My buddy's is a 2010 I believe, but I could be wrong. Ignore me too as I think I'm hypersensitive to the altered handling and braking a vehicle experiences when it's loaded/weighted/towing. I'm sure a Tundra handles a Hawk just fine. I'm just so use to my Ram 2500 and when I jump...
