RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Tires Needed

One thing to consider with any brand is how readily available they are in a pinch. On my recent Utah trip, 2000 mi from home, we had something get caught under my 4WD F150 and cut a deep groove in the left rear tire ruining it- still held air but not trustable at highway speeds. Luckily...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Macerator Pumps - Anyone Use These?

Not only a bad idea but possibly a very expensive one- Many of the USFS and BLM camps we've stayed in have posted that there is, IIRC, a $5000 fine for dumping sewage, portable toilets etc in the pit/vault toilets. Haviland Lake in CO is one and I've seen others too at trailheads with that...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West USPS Informed Delivery worked well for us on our trip

We've had the Informed Delivery for a few years now. One thing it did was inform us just how screwed up our local Post Office is- Some mail shown on it never arrives. Some mail on it arrives weeks after it is shown for that days delivery.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Insuring a FWC through USAA

That's odd- my sister is insured through USAA and they cover her because our father was a Marine, 21 years.. I find it humorous she uses USAA because she is the most liberal military hating person I know  Like others I was told by State Farm my ATC and my Grandby were covered as "part...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Trailer hitch swing arm

The 2" / 3" thing on the receiver is sort of moot. There are flush adapters that fit in a 3" receiver to make it 2" . A big problem with buying something that is made 3" is you'll never get it to fit without hanging way out in a more common 2" receiver :P

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Ceiling staple issue

I've had a few work their way out but not that much. Maybe put a very light coat of polyurethane non foaming adhesive on the legs and tap them back in?

Hmmm....$530? I use a cordless drill and a wrench to put mine on or off in less than 3 minutes for all 4 :P

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Webasto or Espar

I've run both at times in vans, but not in a FWC. Typically not as easy to put one in a truck camper.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fire Rings - Clean Them Up!...And Make Them Disappear

In my recent trip in Utah we stayed overnight in a couple of dispersed sites. Perhaps even more distasteful than the trash/garbage was the dog crap. One of the sites I counted 20+ piles in a 25-30 foot radius of our campsite. Disgusting- and in the arid environment I imagine it stays for a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Why did you choose ATC over FWC

Nope, just the synthetic fabric- which does make a difference. I plan to insert a layer of EZCool between the outer vinyl and the cold weather pa ck when it is really brutal outside.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Why did you choose ATC over FWC

Another plug for ATC- closing in on departure date for our recent trip to Utah, Colorado and Wyoming, I had an issue with a supplier of EZ-Cool- a similar but IMO better alternative to Reflectix. Since my grandson and I were going to be in some very hot and some cold camping I was going to...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Jacks

I have the 4 Reico Titans on my ATC, but I have no jacks on my old 99 Grandby and use the tripods (Brophy IIRC). The tripods work ok but give me the jitters every time. I really don't like them if the wind is high.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Current Spike in Gas Prices

Costco here was $2.65 a few days ago. We saw as high as $4.00 on our recent jaunt to Utah, Colorado and Wyoming.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How do 1# propane tanks seal?

The little O-ring goes down in the hole the gas comes out of- with the plastic ring above that (toward the outside world) to guide the male pickup on whatever you are attaching to the disposable and also to hold the O-ring in. The ID of the O-ring should be a snug fit on the male pickup on the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Maiden Voyage for the The Ted's Tiger

Don't see many Tigers. Have spoken to a few owners when out camping- everyone seems to really like them. Not that it matters but I happen to live about 10 mi from their factory

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Thickness of cabover floor?

Anyone know how thick the floor of the cabover is? Feels pretty stout so I'm guessing 3/4" plywood? I'm struggling with where to mount two 1.75 gal Rotopacks......there is plenty of clearance under the cabover if they are back against the exterior front wall. My 2018 Panther was bought used...

Curious why you use hammer drills? What does it do for jacking that a regular drill won't do.

Were the "pads" there in the 50's? We stumbled across them a couple of years ago and spent a very hot night there. It was 128F that day!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Jack Brackets Detaching

Rivnuts may work but even better IMO are PlusNuts, especially in thinner metal. https://www.cardinalcomponents.com/plusnut/ I used a bunch of PlusNuts building out 2 Transit van interiors- very thin metal. I defy anyone to pull a plusnut out- rivnuts can come out fairly easy in thin material.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Firestone Ride Rite - inflating questions.

No adjustability either- which for me is priceless... My loads vary tremendously- for my F150 I can have nothing in the bed, or a 250lb RSi topper with or without a bunch of "stuff", or a loaded up ATC Panther...or even a Panther and a 16ft Camplite travel trailer. Or just the CampLite.... I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Grand Teton NP camping

My grandson and I visited Yellowstone a couple of years ago- we literally could not visit any of the attractions other than Old Faithful. All the roadside stuff had full parking lots- and people parked precariously along the roads often were solid for a mile or more each direction, both...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Grand Teton NP camping

That campsite reselling is BS. Campgrounds need to require an official ID to check in- if it doesn't match the name on the reservation then turn them away. It won't take long for the resellers to get a very bad reputation and fold up. Last year on our way out west I stopped at my reserved site...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Reservation time for WRT campsites?

Great way? Yeah ok, I wouldn't last 5 miles on a bicycle! Old and out of shape.... We did encounter quite a few bicycle riders on our loop of it last summer. One group was teenage with a couple of dad's riding sweep in a pickup...
