RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West OK I'm an idiot

So did Sandy help you pass the time while you waited for AAA to come put air in your spare? Seriously though, good reminder for everyone and glad that everything turned out okay.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Step-Side Campers

I love the look of the sport side trucks, but perhaps looking at finding a used fleetside bed might prove to be cheaper when paired with a used camper vs. the new camper and keeping the sportside bed. Just a thought...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Why bigger tires?

I had the factory mud flaps on my 93 Toyota 4X4 SR5 truck. They worked great for preventing rocks from damaging other peoples windshields...but when serious off roading....and needing reverse....several times going backwards I pinched the mud flaps between the tire and a rock/boulder and...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Raising floor of truck bed

Several people have built platforms for under the campers to use older model campers on newer trucks. I think the main model that this is seen with is the Ford Super Duty trucks. I believe the whole floor needs to be supported. Something I always thought would be nice is to put a drawer...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West anyone out there had a diesel and off'ed it?

By not paying for the diesel option = free gas for many years!!! B) True, but buying a Diesel truck that far outlasts the gasser truck means a free TRUCK for many years! :) It is all about what is important to you, how you are going to use the truck and how long you plan on keeping it.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Back up cameras, any use?

I don't have one mounted on the truck... yet. I have gotten used to having it on the Flex though and have added it to my list of future mods. I like the idea of it for backing in general, especially with the camper. I think it would be great for using to hook up a trailer as well.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West anyone out there had a diesel and off'ed it?

I perfectly happy with my Diesel, but would question a newer one from the financial aspects as they get only marginally better mileage with a much higher initial cost. The older Diesels got far better fuel mileage and were less of an upgrade cost over the gassers. I do have a friend who...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West An Interesting Photo

Thanks Edo. We call it "Forest Karma" here. The same thing happens to the tents and lawn chairs and other crap folks set up and LEAVE in the forest ALL WEEK long to save the >choice spots< so they can drive right in on Friday night @ midnight to their "Reserved" camp spot. Nope. Not gonna...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2500 stright axle vs independant axle

I am looking for specific help on hardware details in ordering a 2011 truck. It would be much more helpful to me if we limit this particular discussion to 4x4 HALF TON VS A 4x4 THREE QUARTER TON in a fairly specific application, as follows, please; 1. It must be 4x4 2. It must have an 8 foot...

Hola Joaquin and welcome. I think I saw your rig mentioned on some extreme RV program recently but missed your segment. Sweet set up. Would love to hear/see more about it. It reminds me of another rig I've seen down in Baja, El Toro Rojo Grande. Hey Jack! How ya been??? You stalking me? :)...

Thanks Guys for the info. CJ8Rockcrawler, sometime back, over on Expedition Portal, do I remember you saying you were working on a set of rock-rails for the Dodge?? If so, what ever became of that project?? Thanks It is on the back burner... I still have a guy that will make them for me...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West KOFA NWR ?

There are several areas to explore in KOFA. If you're up for a more rugged road, Engesser Pass is a wonderful trip. You can also do some hiking in Palm Canyon or just explore on the main roads with plenty of areas to camp. The only caveat is know that you CANNOT exit from the south through...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camping with infants - Scott?

We did the same eddie bauer portable bed thing for a trip or two as well. At 11 months now, he is mobile and would probably be in the bed with us. I think even at 7 months he was mobile (crawling) and we kept him in the bed with us when we camped. We have contemplated fabbing up a safety...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Swampy Air Coolers

You might be expecting too much of it. It will never be like refrigeration but it lowers ambient to an acceptable temp when its broiling out. It helps at night as well. I also mainly use it by sitting or laying in the airflow from it... I'm not using to cool the whole camper like an AC unit...
