RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Propane Tank Leak

I noticed a small propane leak on my Hawk on the last trip we took as well. Ours appears to be in the camper system somewhere because the odor goes away when we shut off the valve at the tank. I haven't gotten into investigating it yet, but have been meaning to post here for ideas for any good...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Southern Utah Vacation

It was pretty much nice everywhere. It was only hot in Monument Valley. We go to the Valley of the Gods late enough in the day that it was pleasant. I don't think we used the heat at night there. We did use it in Flagstaff, Pine Lake and in the Henry Mountains. We did try out the Swampy...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Air Conditioner?

So far I've just used it with the fan on and the window open to circulate air through the camper. I've then sat with the Swampy blowing on me. This works well... especially since Alice likes to be warmer than I do... so she can sit out of the Swampy's path. I would think doing the above and...

Welcome... you're among friends. :) He's kicked the trend of older Hawks on newer Rams though! Oh well... It's like white Toyota's on the expo site I guess.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Southern Utah Vacation

No, we didn't take the Burr Trail. We came in from the west side on pavement to the park and then left down Notom Road and off into the Henry Mountains for camping at McMillan Springs at about 8500 feet. The next morning we worked our way out past the Eagle City Town site and Little Egypt back...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hey Stan!!

Jay, The PO of my Hawk used some marine paint on the exterior bottom portion ( I believe that is what you're asking about). It seems to be holding up well. I can check what it was that they used. He gave me the rest of the can for touchups etc. Kyle

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West TurboCool Swamp Cooler?

I looked into those a little bit and then decided that I liked having the lower profile of just the vent on top of the roof for better clearance while 4wheeling. I did end up getting a Swampy though. Swampy I used it for the first time this week. The dog loved it as we were able to leave...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Yes Virginia This is AZ Too!!! Who knew?

Looks like a good time Jay... errr Osama... I was up there a few years ago on a backpacking trip near Hannigan Meadow. We hiked down to the black and camped in the area for 3 or 4 days.... beautiful area. Alice and I are currently working our way back through Southern Utah/Northern AZ. We...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tossing out an intro...

That was exactly how I was feeling and then someone in Phoenix responded to my wanted ad on this forum. I checked out the pics of it and told him I would come up that weekend and buy it if everything checked out when we got there. We started talking on a Thursday night and my wife and I were...

Great... thank you Fisherman! No problem on the pics for the install either. I have a some pics I need post of the various mods I have been working on as well. Battery box, couch, fan, power inverter, awning... I'm sure there are a few other things as well, but pics will have to wait until I...

Actually... according to Jay, I'm the young whippersnapper in the group so I was actually up LATER than everyone and sent off the PM while the rest of you had visions of sugarplums dancing in your heads... Thanks again Fisherman! Now I just need to get the $$$ together for the solar panel...

I've had several and Pam has approved of them all. Hmmmmmm what does it all mean Thomas? You trying to say that she hopes you do have a creepy internet meeting with a psycho who takes you out and chops you into little pieces and buries you in the desert? I could have taken care of that for...

I still would rather sharpen my lawn mower blade with a hand file than use a grinder. Ugh... I remember my dad making me do that a couple of times a season for each of our 3 lawn mowers (big yard, lots of trees, PITA to mow too!) I LOVE my Xeriscape yard now...

I would also advise against it if you have a post tensioned slab... you definitely don't want to cut one of those cables... that would be messy.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Wind Buffeting

I haven't really noticed this problem. On my Dodge/Hawk combo though there is very little clearance. I haven't measured it, but definitely less than 2 inches or so. That with the quad cab truck and the regular bed arrangement in the Hawk keeps the front of the camper fairly far back from the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Reliability Ratings

I asked a similar question not too long ago and had some interesting comments and discussion. You can find the thread here: FWC Perfect Mate Of note was the poor reliability rankings of the latest iteration of the Tundra. It has actually caused consumer reports to stop automatically ranking...
