RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Exterior Cable TV Inlet

I installed the same thing this winter. I just used (2) 8x3/4 stainless button heads and sealed the top and sides with ProFlex rv sealant. Mine went in the back wall driver's side and I put the interior plate right next to the shore power wall plate on the side of the fridge cabinet. I also...

Big thanks for sharing your story and pics. It really contributes excellent content to this site and others. Best of luck on your new adventures on congrats on the new rig. Love your flatbed and storage options. For me personally, the trailer is also very inspiring. Cheers!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 1st Gen Toyota Tundra Tire Size - Feedback

A little off topic, but I when I got my first gen 6 years ago, I wanted a tough look so I went with 285 60 18's on heavy 18x8 granite alloy rims. They looked great on the truck, always got compliments, but the truck became even more of a dog. When my FWC came into the picture I found some late...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West LED light change?

I've always had great luck with autolumination.com. It seems to me older folks don't like the "cool white" led light while it doesn't seem to bother the younger campers.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Mount a tv?

In our 94 grandby with 2 burner stove option, we wrap a 21" led lcd in towels and place it on top of the covered stove. It gets bungeed from under the counter to the wall behind the stove. It fits solid and has never popped out. When we pop up it lives on top of the fridge on the counter.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West What options are recommended for new Fleet shell owner?

I like the maxx fan better than the FF because it will run even with the vent closed in "ceiling fan" mode. Really helps distribute the heat. Very happy with 2 of them installed also as one can be "push" and the other can be "pull".

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper step

^Ditto on the Reese hitch step. We love ours. Looks really nice, is fairly grippy, even when wet, and is a nice cheap step. As with all ball mounts though, it will absolutely destroy your shins and your afternoon if not careful.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West ARB Awnings on a Pop Up...anyone had experience with them?

I just installed (2) ARB 2000 awnings on my 94 Grandby. I took the advice from a post I found on WTW and mounted a 1"x3" piece of extruded aluminum to both sides of the camper with sheetmetal screws through the frame and bolted the awning to that with 6 bolts and lock nuts. I'm really happy with...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Pulling a trailer while carrying a FWC

My favorite aluminum trailer is an Aluma 5x8. It hauls 2 cycles or 1 ATV, is built really stout, and can be used with or without the ramp. It has 14" wheels and weighs a little over 300 pounds. I will use it behind the tundra/grandby.

Two thumbs up for ingenuity and execution. Looks like a fun rig. Cheers!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New FWC camper, wind fairing suggestions

My cheapo solution to this: Look on your craigslist for Yakima Q towers and a wind deflector. Best time to buy is now during the winter. The old style is not only available wider but was also considerably taller. Really you only need 2 towers, 1 crossbar and a fairing.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West A Granby Followed Me Home!

Congrats, great looking rig. I'm also a 94 grandby guy from Wisconsin. Full winter of mods planned for me. Best of luck with it.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 94 grandby mods awning(s), vent, antenna and shore cable

Those are exactly the pics I was looking for. I didn't initially think the plate on both sides would be necessary, but after seeing your pics, I think it's wise. Do you hold the rear wheel with just a d-ring and bungee?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Truck rolled back, major damage and lots of questions

I wouldn't trust the camper with a local body shop as they will just not care that much about it. Spendy as it may be, I think getting it to woodland would be the best bet as they will actually show the camper some love. Sorry to hear about it though and best of luck with it.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Keep the Gen1 tundra or Upgrade?

I haven't weighed my rig yet as I have only had the camper for 5 months. My grandby has heater, 2way fridge, 2 fans, and approximately 350 pounds of gear and battery. I also didn't realize OD was a no-no for anything but unloaded and flat conditions. Good point on the low oil pressure too, I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Keep the Gen1 tundra or Upgrade?

This is exactly the issue I'm facing. I have an '01 reg cab long box 4.7 with a grandby. I live in probably the flattest area in the country and I think the 4.7 is way underpowered. I couldn't imagine what good sized inclines would do to the truck with the camper on. When I am lightly loaded...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Best battery to buy?

I just installed a new agm deep cycle Interstate size 31. Has a 5 year warranty. Pretty sure they are the best now. Being a long time car stereo nerd, I used to be a big fan of Optima, but they have been utter junk in the past few years after production went to mexico. I had 4 optimas go back...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 94 grandby mods awning(s), vent, antenna and shore cable

Thanks for the replies. Really helps to hear from other people. I figured the go from the inside and find the corners of the vent would be the best bet. I also think it's wise to brace any outlet up against a frame member although I didn't even think about it. I also really appreciate the first...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 94 grandby mods awning(s), vent, antenna and shore cable

Hey all, fairly new to the forum and picked up my 94 grandby in late august. It currently rides on a '01 tundra reg cab long box v8, but I plan to get a 2nd gen tundra over the winter or in the spring. I'm planning a few mods over the winter and would really appreciate any feedback or tips you...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West TV In Your Camper?

We have a '94 FWC Grandby and were children in the eighties so we like to fall asleep to a movie and then watch news in the morning. I bought a 20" LED LCD smart tv with a tiny dvd player. It weighs next to nothing, is very thin, uses less than 200 watts of power and has a nice picture. It was...
