RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West what gas engine? 2020 F350: 6.2 Gas or 7.3 L Gas?

An F-250/350 with single rear wheels can carry a 3k pound camper. It all depends on how you order it. My special ordered regular cab 2017 F-250xl with 4wd and gas engine has stickered payload of 3750 lbs. When I ordered this truck I only selected 5 or 6 options to keep weight and price down. An...

This truck has the 6.2 gas. My first non-diesel camper hauler/tow rig since 1993. I'm very happy with it.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tired of High Tech

Well you can still get a new truck without all the bells and whistles. You will need to order it though. I went through the whole order process on an F-250 last year. Three months from placing order to delivery. A base model XL trim with a few choice options. No power windows, door locks or...

Yeah, I spoke with them just this week. They said " We're working on it but don't know when it will be ready ". I would think that they are giving a lot of business away to Torklift by not having this product out for the 2017+ Super Duty's. Meanwhile, the camper is still on the old truck, where...

That's a good idea about checking the 2016 versions. I do know there is a difference in the construction of the beds between the 2017 and 2016 super dutys. I kept the bed mat from my 2016 and put it in the 2017 and I had to trim it at the front and rear to fit the different contours of the 2017 bed.

Thanks for the replies gentlemen. I have also settled on the happijac method but unfortunately they haven't yet come out with tie-downs for the 2017+ super duties as far as I know. I wonder what the hold up is?

Thank you for those tips Rusty. I think you are talking about the lower seal, correct? I started with the upper seal by removing the trim piece next to the entry door and the range top. The seal looks to be nailed own to hold it in place. I'm assuming this is still the original factory seal...

Thanks for the inputs I'll go with a 4 inch riser. The tape measure says this should good for cab and bed rail clearance. Here is a question for Pirelli seal installation - Is there a procedure or proper sequence of steps in order put the seal in correctly? If not, I'm just gonna dive in. And...

I've been taking measurements of the camper and the F-250 to see how high the platform in the truck bed will need to be. The camper measures 43 3/4 inches from the bottom at truck bed floor to the bottom of the cab-over. From the bottom of the camper at truck bed floor to the truck bed rail...

The new F250 finally arrived at the dealer. It is filthy from sitting at the transporters lot and still needs to go through pre-delivery inspection and detail. I pick it up Saturday. It is really tall. I may need extensions for my jacks to load the Alaskan. Had a bit of a mishap changing the...

I'm pretty adamant about staying within rated weight limits of my pickups. That silver F-350 with the Lance 995 and trailer with Jeep put the truck at just under its 14000lb GVWR. Great rig and never had any problems but just too big for what I want to do going forward. The smaller, lighter...

You are right about those plastic vent covers. I've had two Lance campers and have replaced my fair share. As you said, the sun just eats them up. I'll keep this thread posted. Here is pic of the rig I just sold this summer and downsized to the Alaskan. I didn't need to replace any covers on...

Thanks Packrat, good suggestion. There is an RV service outfit fairly close to me in Scotts Valley. Good progress this weekend. Got the rear roof vent, drip rail and the eye brow over the door re-sealed. This is a lot of work. Also, my Ford dealer contacted me to say the F-250 is on the train...

I wonder if RD Hall put a hidden signature In the campers that were built in the facility where he worked. That would be neat. I kinda figured finding original parts would be questionable, but I should be able to find some kind of gasketing material to work. A fantastic fan would be a useful...

Well I've received my supplies to begin the re-sealing job. I'm starting at the rear roof vent working down then forward to the cabover. After removing the rear roof vent assembly there wasn't any evidence of water intrusion thankfully. When I took down the bottom piece from inside the camper I...

I also am kind of fond of the weathered farm truck look. A paint job is at the bottom of the list. Packrat, I think you're right. The old AK should into the new truck without too much trouble. This AK has a straight 4x8 bottom so it fits a stepside narrow bed. Fitment into a wide side bed won't...

Paint!? Didn't ya know, this oxidized " patina " is all the rage right now in the vintage auto scene. People are actually trying to apply or duplicate the patina look on vintage trucks that don't have a natural one. It is almost impossible to do and almost always just ends up looking like the...
