RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 84 inches, has bigger been better ...

We have an Ocelot on an 05 Tundra. Fits even with the box, which for the brushed in roads we drive makes much easier. Wider would be nicer, but would also limit where we go. If you are not planning on driving tight roads, then absolutely get the larger.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tundra and FWC Hawk

We have an 05 Tundra with an ATC Ocelot. Have been running the Michelin LTX AT2 tires (E rated) for over 50K miles and still have decent tread left on them. Only one flat from a nail. Did install airbags, but that was it - OEM bilsteins still working. We have the camper, plus dog and...

Maybe you can sell them as "vintage" parts for an old rebuilt camper.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Finally some progress

Looks like a nice build. Will be interested to see how you finish it. We are thinking of something similar for when we get a newer Tundra from our 05. Ditto on the sway bar - it really smoothed out the ride with our Ocelot and 05 Tundra.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 5 more nights in the camper!

Well, a good time was mostly had! Glad you have a philosophical approach. We all have days/times/trips that don't always go as planned. We have developed a checklist that has options for hiking, biking, fishing, boating, etc. Not foolproof, but it helps since my brain isn't as young and our...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West tire deflator recommendations

I have an ARB pump and gauge that works well. Gauge is accurate when checked. Might be others that do have presets out there, but the ARB quality seems pretty good.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Outside window flap - anyone cut these off?!?!

I have put the ones on our Ocelot (they are the detachable type) in some heavy sideways rain as it was leaking through the stitching. I have since used Aqua Seal to seal all the seams. That was only a couple of times, so not used very much.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camping/Fishing near Big Hole, MT

Ditto on Foy for the Burma Road. For a more or less straight shot it works. Although Maidenrock is not that far out of the way. Likely gonna be lot's of bugs.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Retired!

Whoo Hoo! I still got a few years left, but it gets harder every day. Working at getting things lined up to retire a year earlier than I had originally planned. See how it goes. Enjoy your time!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Passport renewal

It might be worthwhile to get a Passport Card at the same time, I think it is $10 extra. Another photo id that can be useful for Canada, etc. Although once when I tried to use it for flight with TSA, the agent did not have a clue what it was and have to have a supervisor come over to look at it...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Crossing the CA border with FWC

Also make sure you do not have any eagle, hawk, etc. feathers tucked into your truck, especially where visible. It is illegal under CITES and other laws. If you want more info: https://www.fws.gov/le/pdf/FactsWildlifeLaws.pdf

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West What do you use for a door mat?

I modified a hitch step with expanded steel and square tubing. It works to scrape off the mud and sand/dirt and then have a piece of the astroturf you can buy at hardware stores. Works pretty good except for completely mudded out shoes.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Roof Rack Use, Roof Box, Kayaks

Here is a folding step ladder we have been using for boats and our rocket box on top of an Ocelot. It stores perfectly on top of the rear bumper, under the camper edge using footman loops and cam straps...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West wind noise while driving with truck camper?

When we first installed our Ocelot on our 05 Tundra, we would get loud wind noise when it was windy out, while driving at highway speed. Built a wind deflector and that helped. Remounted the camper (more or less permanently) with no wind deflector but was very careful to have the camper body...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Four wheel camper in bear country

Good to be bear aware even in a camper. If a bear really wants in, they will get in. Have bear spray and know how to use it (works great on ornery moose too). A bear fence if you really want to be better prepared is a good idea - just remember it is there when you get up to go to the bathroom...
