RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West The Fight to Keep Public Lands Public

Thanks for the post and the issue. One other thing that is starting to occur is local governments claiming that they have a larger "right" to influence decisions on public lands projects. once again seeing that we need to "guarantee" a certain level of forest products from a national forest...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West All terrain exterior storm window cover vs. Four Wheel interior cover

We seam sealed the stitches on our Ocelot and have not had any issues with leaks. Just like the old tents before the seam tape came along.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2005 Tundra, first major maintenance.

We have a 2005 Tundra that just went to 181,000 miles. Only repair I would consider non-maintenance would be replacing the ball joints. We have been trying to purchase a new Tundra, but as soon as the dealer hears we want a long bed, I never get a call back. If anyone has a good dealer they...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Big Bend, Recreation.gov, always booked?

What we experienced in the NP's and National Forests for camping this year was far beyond (in many places) the use we have seen in years past. As one of our folks described it, "it was like the eclipse, every single day." There were dozens, if not hundreds of new dispersed sites that appeared...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Drawn Down in the Desert

Thanks for the story and great drawings Milt - just leaven on a 17 day trip ourselves, but can't hardly draw a straight circle so won't be posting anything like your great sketches.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Trailer storage on public lands?

This is an expanding problem and why a lot of National Forests are rewriting camping restrictions to prevent trailers/campers from being left in the same place for weeks or months. In some areas, families simply rotate through and keep the camp occupied. Some new regs state that you must move at...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Grandby/Tundra combo early report

Yep, sway bar. buy the speaker crank, remove the legs. I added another piece of plywood under the pieces in our Ocelot to provide more support for the speaker stand pole.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Low profile roof platform

If you have a vent or Fantastic Fan, be careful that the rack and whatever you put on it clears the top. Even with a Yakima rack, we need to be careful loading boats on the roof

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New truck - rounded tailgate and camper won't fit

One nice thing about using rubber horse mats is that the camper doesn't move at all and is padded, Live in east Idaho and have had it on the Ocelot on for seven years, stored outside and just repainted the bottom this summer. No rot issues or hardly any cracks in the plywood.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Suspension upgrade options -- help me choose...

We have a 2005 Tundra with an Ocelot that I built out for the most part. Just added Airbags - rest of the suspension is stock. No issues in the last seven years of ownership (100K miles with the camper on). Just drove some true 4x4 access roads in MT/ID in June - drive slow and watch where your...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West They'd Call it a Camper in The East...

Have two friends who got an Escape instead of a Casita or Scamp. they are both very happy with the quality of build and lack of warranty issues so many trailers seem to have. Looks great.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Building Our New Camper

I did not attach my cabinets to the walls at all. Built the cabinet shell from 1/2" plywood attached to the floor and the icebox cabinet. Have had no issues in seven years and 100K miles. I like the idea that the shelves can flex with any movement and temperature changes.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Eastern Nevada?

Ruby's are good. Ruby Lake NWR is also nice, some good fishing and birding depending on timing. Sheldon NWR and take a look at the Friends of Nevada Wilderness website. More designated wilderness in NV than most people realize and some real hidden gems out there.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solo Traveling While Female

We experience similar issues up north too. Finding those "places in between" helps to avoid the crowds and the "angries" as my better half calls them. Dealing directly with people like that is difficult and sounds like you did what you could to get out of the situation. Especially this summer...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Water in a Shell

We have no sink in our Ocelot. Like WS, we carry water jugs (up to 12.5 gallons) and have a basin we do dishes in. Works fine summer and winter (as long as you are careful the water doesn't freeze!).
