RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West an alaskan camper on a trailer?

I too have thought of doing this, even have the trailer to do it with. I would like to be able to move it around the yard as well. I think it would be a great use of your Alaskan when it gets difficult to load and unload. The wind resistance would still be quite low and probably would not...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West BluesideUp Alaskan Project

I have the same problem. Just can not seem to balance both up and down so I set both my valves to work even going up. The front comes down first so I have a bunjee cord (that keeps my door open on the rear) that I pull on for the first 2 in. or so then it comes down even. I tryed everything...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Guesstimate cost of new cabover top section...

The $800 was just for the aluminum for the top half including all the corner mold not including the door. Alaskan had it all cut to rough fit. I supplied the labour. Its a a fun project if you have a warm dry place to work and the necessary tools. Again its worth doing if you can buy it right...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Guesstimate cost of new cabover top section...

I replaced the aluminum skin, back wall and some of the stringers on mine. It had been abused by the first owner by putting a boat loader on the roof, then a 14ft boat and two kayaks. it realy didn't have a chance. The tin was about $800. Its a major project and you will need a warm dry...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Marker light do not work

On my 94 there is a ground wire on the overhead just above the drivers door. I have to keep this clean (once a year) or my marker lights dim. I have also switched to LEDs so that should make some diffence. Mine are not like the xmas light as one can burn out and the rest still worked. Sounds...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Cabover lifting while driving, anyone else?

I repaced my pirelli seals two years ago have not had a problem with lifting since. I watch it pretty close and if I seen it lift I would also drill the holes for the bolts but not until it's a problem again.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Current Spike in Gas Prices

Our gas and diesel are the same price $1.31.9(cdn) or approximately $4.99 a US gallon. We are outside the Vancouver city limits so do not have the transit tax they have of +/- 15 cents a liter. It getting dam expensive to go anywhere even empty. Our Alaskan only cost about 1 mile per gallon so...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West a guide repair question

I found a wrench from a ignition set worked because it is small, thin and offset. On a CO model its fairly simple I undid the top one when it was up and the bottom when down, then pride the side out with a wedge the piece then slid out of the bottom. I replaced all with stainless and large...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West hydraulic leak

The rams where updated when I bought the camper. The previous owner updated them from Alaskan. Don't know the cost but it would be an easy update except for the back wall beside the toilet. I found a small 12 volt pump out of a convertible car that I am going to try. Looks like the same...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Current Spike in Gas Prices

In Hope B.C. our gas is at $1.33/9 per liter or $5.07 per US gal. Diesel is at 1.26/9 per liter or $4.80 US gal. I haven't looked at Mexico but I am sure its cheaper. Sure wished we could spend another winter down there.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West hydraulic leak

Yes your right it would have to be parallel to the existing pump. The pump is the only thing that bothers me, Everything else works flawlessly. I have the updated rams that lift fast and probably would lift twice as much as they do, as long as the pump works. It one of those thing that will...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West hydraulic leak

On my 94 the line are plastic. Looks to be about the same as airline on a semi truck. If this is the case you should be able to buy a coupler to join the pieces at the break from a truck dealer. I found a new to me pump from a Chrysler convertible that looks to be about the same size as my...
