RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Sure Power 1314 Recall - FYI

I just had my 6 month old Sure Power model 1314 Battery Separator fail............ Last Friday the 18th I received my replacement for the 1314 in the mail. Looks identical to the one I mailed them, hopefully it last longer than a year :D

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper Night Light

I actually have a child in my camper who really likes a night light. :D I just leave one of the lights on all night-- my wife cut a piece of black paper that fits in the fixure with stars and moon shapes cut in it. Works pretty well and the led lights draw almost no power and make no real heat...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Another 1/2 Ton versus 3/4 Ton Truck Question

I had a '95 dodge 3/4 ton and it needed nothing to haul around my Grandby. My newer 2002 Chevy 3/4 ton needed air bags to get level. But the Chevy rides like a car and the old Dodge road like a 3/4 ton truck :D Other than the air bags on the Chevy I did nothing to either truck to haul the FWC...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Narrow Older FWC for Modern Pickup

I considered narrowing one when I was searching for mine -- but then I found a sweet deal on one that fit. I'm not sure how the layout in the Keystones is - but to narrow the second step in mine would be pretty easy - there isn't much in that space. 58" is the tailgat opening on 'most' newer...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West My New FWC Order!

From what I have heard from other posts, the two batteries should power the compressor fridge for at least a couple of days. The fridge should be turned off on cold or snowy days eliminating the need for more fridge power .. which will likely be used up by the extra furnace time. I can get...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Water pump won't prime

Sound like you got it solved... But if you still want to mess with it.... If you can, apply a little suction to the faucet outlet when the pump is running, it will suck the air out of the line between the pump and tank and you will get water.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Atwood Furnace noise

Sounds like something in the heater box is not welded, sealed, screwed correctly and it is expanding enough with the heat that it can bang shut when it cools -- I'd get a new furnace if it is an '11 its gotta be under warranty. My '93 makes no crazy noises nor would I tolerate any...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West News Feature: Beer-in-cans > Beer-in-bottles

Ah shucks Randy, giving a dog Budweiser is animal cruelty. I'm going to report you PETA (people eating tasty animals). Mike Giving Budweiser to anyone is cruel. Even when I was a kid 'stealing' a sip of beer I knew budweiser didn't taste like the rest...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Why Four Wheel Camper?

Who knows ... I am headed on a 5 day Elk hunt in the Rockies for 5 days ... during which time I will be sleeping in a tent (Brrrrrr) .... maybe that will add some fuel to the FWC fire! I still can't believe that my camper has a thermostat - a real freakin' thermostat!!! Sometime I just need...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Why Four Wheel Camper?

Buy a used one... and test it out for a while. If you love it and want a nice fancy new one - then drop the $$$$$. I love mine, but I don't love it as much as the new price would require. I'm just not in the position in life to spend that kind of money for a camper...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Optima death

The 'new' optimas are turning out to be junky compard to the old ones. Guys that got 10 years out of red top in a truck are now getting 1-2 years.... But since Optima came on the scene there have been a bunch of new AGM batteries put out by a bunch of companies. I run a DEKA AGM and it rocks...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper Power

Hey guys, I'm wiring up my Hawk to my 2001 Ford Super Duty 7.3 liter, which came from the factory with dual batteries. Which battery do I want to pull power from for the 12 volt aux power in the Hawk? The Hawk is a shell model, so the only option inside is the 12 volt outlet. Thanks You...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tighten those tie downs

Did you ever get some nuts? That's what she said.... I had mine come loose the 2nd or third trip out. Got some wing nuts and have 1000's of miles of no problems in two different trucks. BUT my camper comes off all the time so I am checking them all the time.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Water tank in your FWC?

I could not survive in my camper without the water. I only have the basic tank with an electric pump/faucet, no hot water. It is one of the nicest things about having a camper. Hands down.

Just curious what does an oil change run for a diesel? And how often? For my gas V8 a lube, oil, filter runs about $40 every 3K miles....that's having a garage do the service for me. Just curious, thx. I do mine every 7,500 miles or every 6 month. On my old Dodge I bought a case (12)...

My $0.02... I've always had 3/4 ton trucks as my other hobby is kind of heavy :D But as I've progressed from the stone age to the modern age the mileage and comfort have gone up though the roof! My current truck a 2002 Chevy Duramax get 17mpg with the camper and just shy of 20 on the freeway...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Edgestar or ARB or Engel

I am in the market for an Edgestar, ARB or Engel fridge but want to get the right one. I know the Edgestar has a higher amperage draw listed on the panel, but I've read that that might not translate to a real-world performance hit. Does anyone have first-hand experience with the power draw of...
