    Traveling With A BIG Dog

Cheers all, super helpful! We're still dealing with flooding and all kinds of craziness here in Santa Cruz, but hopefully we'll get a trip on the books in the next month or two to give it a go!

    Traveling With A BIG Dog

Very helpful, thank you! Odie is active...for about 2 minutes. Haha. Great Pyrenees have it in their genes to only expend energy when their flock moves (and they have to move all of 15 feet) so that when a predator comes they can be ready for action. I never in my life thought I'd have a 6 month...

    Traveling With A BIG Dog

Bumping this up in the hopes of getting some insights. Anyone travel with their dog in the back in their 4WC?

    Traveling With A BIG Dog

Well, after much family deliberation, we added a second dog to our pack. After we had to put our 16 year old dog down at the end of 2019, we'd always planned to get another dog and finally pulled the trigger. We have goats, chickens, etc. on the property so ended up getting a 6-month-old, 50 lb...

newish FWC owner looking to upgrade

As budget allows, I've been slowly building out my solar setup with Goal Zero stuff. They make really high quality products, and the mobile/modular nature of them allows me to use them as home backup power when needed. My current setup includes a Boulder 50 and Boulder 100 mounted to the...

    I need a new truck

I weighed my 1996 Hawk Shell fully outfitted with gear, and I come in right under 1950 lbs. That includes the roll-over bed, bat-wing awning, solar panels, fridge, water, chairs, batteries, etc. With my truck rated at 2,120 lbs, I feel pretty comfortable, though I have added some helper springs...

    Noise While Sleeping

Thanks all for all the insights! We don't have the thermal pack and while I've considered it, I don't know that the investment would be worth the minimal improvement. I knew it wouldn't be much better than a tent sound-wise, but what I hadn't accounted for was the fact that we're up above...

    Noise While Sleeping

Hey all! I think I know the answer to this, but has anyone found a good way to quiet noise from outside while sleeping? I spent last summer driving up and down California for mountain bike races and while it worked wonderfully for just me, sleeping proved challenging on a few occasions thanks...

    Stock Roof Rack? Useful?

Thanks for the feedback. Are the Yakima tracks something which can be installed at home? I'm relatively handy, but of course I'm always nervous about touching anything on the roof...definitely don't want to deal with leaks.

    Stock Roof Rack? Useful?

My new to me 2003 Kestrel came with aluminum bars on the roof (I don't know that I'd call them a "Rack" per se). The person I bought it from said they were the original racks but I'm wondering if anyone can confirm this? Secondarily, has anyone found these to be particularly useful? I am hoping...

    BougeRV Experiences?

Howdy all! Has anyone here had any experience with BougeRV products? I'm generally one to pay for the name brands and the support that comes with them, but I'm hearing more and more about the shortcomings of some (i.e. Dometic). Additionally, it looks/sounds like there is decent support on...

    Mule Expedition Outfitters?

Does anyone have any photos or instructions on how the brackets work? I know I'm not the smartest in the world, but I'm having a hard time mating up the mounting holes on the bracket with the brackets for the jacks. I'm not sure if they should come off first or?

Picking up my new (to me) Kestrel! (Help please)

Cheers Frank! Yes, the jacks will definitely come off when we do any real trips. This was a spot about 15 minutes from home where we could have a quick hike and a meal in the camper per my 3-year old's request! Haha.

Picking up my new (to me) Kestrel! (Help please)

Thanks so much! Beyond stoked to have tracked one down! Here are some photos from pickup and a quick little excursion with the kiddos. I still need to fab my regular platform and get the eyelets installed, but so far it's been great! Chris

    Mule Expedition Outfitters?

I've seen a few random mentions of these guys when searching through the forums, but I'm curious if anyone has any feedback? I'm thinking about ordering their awning for the ARB awning I already have, but I'm curious of people's experience/thoughts on them in general? Or has anyone used the...

Picking up my new (to me) Kestrel! (Help please)

Just figured I'd round out this thread in case anyone comes along with the same question. First off, I am now a proud FWC owner! Beyond stoked already, and can't wait for adventures with the family! My modification list is already growing :) To get the camper home I brought some pallets...
