RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Need to attach awning to beams?

Hello folks. Getting the Eagle ready for a month long trip down to Baja. I purchased a Fiamma awning and it is a bit unclear as to whether i need to attach it to supports? I had a friend tell me to take apart the siding on from the inside and find some stringers to attach to. Does not sound...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West drilling into roof question...wierdness?

Hey thanks Stan. That seems to be what probably happened. I am likely looking through the top and at the bottom of the tube. I am going to try and find a fastener a bit bigger and be a bit gentler with it. The pictures helped me understand what i am working with. Cheers, Dave

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West drilling into roof question...wierdness?

Thanks for all the help guys. When i look down into the hole where i initially screwed the fastener, it looks like the aluminum truss is a couple inches below the top layer of roofing. It is the second row in of screws from the outside row. Not sure of my next move. I'll report back any...

They're two screws a few inches apart from the one i screw in. One on each side. The fastener i screwed is in the same row. Could the truss drop down, making it unreachable with the fastener?

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West panel install question

Herr i think you are probably right. This panel is designed for household use, or at least stationary use. I hope it holds up on the camper. As for the ground i am going to go ahead and assume its unnecessary and continue to research it. Anyone have a picture or link to a disconnect switch...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West panel install question

I guess there is no ground. The junction box on the back of my panel has just 2 wires: Positive and Negative. Does the junction box on the back of your panel have a 3rd wire? The instructions for my panel make no mention of grounding -- just to connect those two wires to a charge...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West panel install question

Yes Herr42 my panel does say that the frame may be used as the ground. So my understanding is that i would take my negative wire and run it like so...Junction box on panel>Frame of panel>Controller>Battery. It seems to me that connecting the wire to the panel frame is going to open it up to...

Thanks Mark. I just tried your suggestion and although the brackets cannot be tightened until they are totally immobile, the gaskets do seem to prevent them from loosening with movement. I wonder if there is something i can use to lock the bolt into place permanently? Anyone know of such a...

So i received an 80 watt panel in the mail from amazon yesterday. It is the Sharp NE-80EJEA. It comes with mounting instructions for a stationary mount, using hardware that is not supplied. It does come with some brackets and also some bolts and screws, they are just a bit different from the...

Thanks for taking the time to explain that. It makes sense to me now. I ordered the 8 amp controller and figure for such a reasonable cost, if i ever needed to upgrade it would not be too painful. Cheers

Thanks for helping out Jeff. Another Battery down the road is definitely a possibility. I would like my controller to be able to handle a potential increase in storage. If i am correct adding another battery will have no effect on the compatibility of the system? I can certainly see my wife...

Having done more research maybe i can get a yes or no from someone here...please! Wondering if this controller will work well with an 80 Watt solar panel?
