RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West What is the coldest night used in your rig?

On those rediculously cold nights has anyone tried lowering the roof just before bed and sleeping on the fold out couch. I would think that you would have a insulated camper more like a hard sided TC. The furnace would have an easier time of keeping up with the demand. Mike

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Bracket/Shelf for Air Conditioning

This is not a unique place to put the air conditioner...just another way to install it. Here in Florida our camping season is all but over in the summer without A/C.

Thanks Stan...I will just purchase a high quality sealant and get to work.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Why doesn't the trim have a ....

Anyone know why the horizontal trim pieces on the exterior of a 2001 FWC dont have a bead of sealant to prevent water from getting behind them? I can understand not sealing the bottom so as not to trap water, but not the top. The reason I ask is that I took out some trim screws from under the...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Pressure Water Upgrade Question

pods8 We are coming out of a Lance and momma is giving up some very nice "luxuries". We are not your typical "off road" users but do enjoy a lot of the benefits of an FWC. That being said, I hope to install a hot water heater and then rig up an "in the aisle" shower and outside shower. Pressure...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Sliding Window Screen

It is 1/8" ABS. I ran a bead of silicone around the frame but for the most part the fasteners hold the screen in place. Silicone does not adhere to ABS all that well. You might look for a different adhesive. Mike

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Where to Place After Market Hot Water Heater

Stan, This is great info...thanks. One of the reasons I was leaning toward the Seaward is that there is no compromise to the aluminum frame or skin. The trade off is that I would have to use the generator when off the grid. More thinking to do..... Mike

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Where to Place After Market Hot Water Heater

Has anyone installed a hot water heater in a Grandby that did not have one? If so, what type and where did you put it. From what I can tell, the only place for it is under the sink. I'm looking at either a Suburban 4 gallon propane or a Seaward 3 gallon electric. I am in the boat business and...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Sliding Window Screen

I like that screen. I might have to abscond, uhh , I mean borrow that idea. The frame looks like some type of plastic. Is it? Yes, it is ABS plastic....and by all means...."steal shamelessly"!

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Sliding Window Screen

Thought I would share the screen I made for the slider window. It really helps keeps fresh air circulating through the camper, especially when it is parked/stored on my truck in the driveway. Here is a pic of where I am installing a microwave.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Pressure Water Upgrade Question

My 2001 Grandby has a small pressure water pump (not on-demand type). My question is...can I upgrade the pump to a higher GPM with on-demand or is the plumbing system (hoses) to undersized to take advantage of the increased capacity? Thanks Mike

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Does anyone sleep down instead of up?

We used our Grandby for the first time last night and decided it would be easier all the way around to sleep on the fold out couch as opposed to the cab over. Here are some observations. 1. The couch cushions are better on our backs. 2. We took out the 2" foam in the cab over and left it home...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West "New to Me" Grandby owner with questions....

I just purchased a mint 2001 Grandby. I have a few questions that I was hoping someone could answer. 1. I have one standard roof vent aft. Is it pre-wired for a Fantastic Fan? 2. The unit does not have a house battery. If I install one, where is the best place to put it? 3. If I install a...
