RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Coming back to truck camper with a couple questions

So after a few years of playing with Jeeps, Aliners, and teardrops it's time to get back into a FWC. I bought a new 2016 Ram Power Wagon which I think would be a perfect match for a nice shell model. My truck has a 6'4" bed and was wondering if a Raven would fit and still allow me to keep and...

Mine is a 2012 which already had the one piece roof skin, which is what was replaced already. If I actually get the money from the insurance company that would cover the 3200 mile trip I will have FWC do the repair. The mold really didn't get to the vinyl just mattress and rear lift panel.

Just waiting for the insurance company to get back to me, it almost seems like they may make it a total loss because of mold and no local shops able to make the repair. Would probably be a non issue if FWC wasn't 1750 miles away from me. I have talked with FWC and they don't even make the wood...

So had the roof replaced by local RV repair shop about 6 weeks ago due to hail damage. Got back from long work trip (without camper) out of town, pop up camper and find this. There must be a leak still and now it appears I will have to replace back panel and mattress due to water damage. I was...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Any midwest owners of FWC campers around?

I live in Gladstone, MO and have a Eagle Shell model I bought new in April. Currently in Reston, VA for work but will be back on 10/20. More than happy to show it off :)

No sink? Decided to go without a water tank too? Ya, going to just use a Aqua-Tainer 7 Gallon Rigid Water Container and always have my MSR MiniWorks microfilter and MSR Dromedary bag for backup.

Nice. So, what do you think of the super springs and the camper on your Ranger? The setup worked really well except for a little bouncy at times which I think means I need to get some heavy duty shocks. Didn't notice any sway even in the high winds and the v6 Ranger had more than enough power...

Picked up the camper in Reno, NV and made the drive back to AZ stopping for a night's rest at some rest stop that had RV parking. Posted some photo's on my blog site (http://stopbit.blogspot.com/).

So just finished the 22 hour drive from Kansas City to Laveen, AZ and the Ranger did great. The bucket seats mine has didn't leave my back hurting and didn't have any power issues on the small section of mountains I passed thru. The Ranger does drop to about 16MPG if I actually do the 75 MPH...

We are very happy with our ATC/FWC and Ranger. It has been to a lot of interesting places and has carried us on many adventures. It will take us on many more. Thanks, it's just probably the geek in me over thinking things.

So I had been a little worried about payload weight on my Ranger since so many posts on other sites say don't use a TC with a Ranger. So from Ford's info my Ranger has a max payload of 1370lbs or 1500lbs (which includes 150lbs for driver) with payload package. Since payload package is just heavy...

I was hoping to, but since I have to fly out to Reston, VA on 3/24....looks like just some stealth camping at a rest stop on my way home :) Will have to wait until mid April for a full shakedown. Woot Woot, Congrats. Hope you enjoy some good camping on the way home.

So got the call that camper will be ready to install on 3/19 in Reno, NV. I did have a Front opening window added to my build. Will take lots of pictures and start a new thread once I pick it up. Forgot to add that I had SuperSprings installed on the Truck as well.

Should be great, Stopbit! Are you driving to Woodland to get it, or will you take delivery somewhere closer to you? Going to pick it up in Reno, NV which will save me a few hundred dollars plus some gas. Was planing on a trip to AZ anyway to visit a friend so only about a 14 hour detour.

I just paid my first payment on mine, and I won't even see it until April. Haha That sucks, luckily between bonus, taxes, and not eating for awhile I am buying mine outright.

Congrats. You will love it. Am I missing the refrigerator? Jack That is not an option with the shell model but plan on getting a ARB fridge when money allows and just use a nice cooler with ice until then.

Just ordered my Eagle shell for my 2011 Ford Ranger Sport, and now the long(4 to 5 weeks) wait begins :) Having some SuperSpring's installed this weekend. I'll be eating Ramen Noodles for a while but it will be worth it. Went with the following options: Swing-Out jack brackets Furnace 2 Burner...

So the girlfriend is on board with the camper plan. She did lay down the law that it has to have a stove and sink, so looks like I will be getting a full model and not a shell. I was able to sell the bus so already have half the funds i need to order.

For the 110v system two or three outlets to handle a small microwave, ARB fridge is AC mode, and a float charger for DC should more than be enough for my needs. I'm sure I can figure it out if can't have it added to my build. Will probably add the cold weather pack to make winter camping more...

Thanks for all the advice so far. Will get the Yakima Tracks and drop the extra windows for sure. Didn't list the screen door or sliding front window because I thought they where standard features but will make sure to check and add them if not. Will have to come up with a way to add a basic...

So I have been working on a school bus conversion ( http://stopbit.blogspot.com ) for awhile but some changes in work/life has made me choose to go in a different direction and sell the bus. I traded in my Ford Escape and got a 2011 Ford Ranger 4x4 Sport (4.0L v6) about a week ago. Hope after I...
