Because this is TC, I would think there is value in the weight reduction of Lithium vs. AGM.

    20-21 Tundra payload?

While you're on the conservative side of most people's approach to sizing their truck, I 100% agree a 1/2 ton truck is dangerously undersized for most truck campers. And adding air bags and leaf springs doesn't turn a 1/2 ton into a 3/4 ton.

    Ram 1500

Or get a 3/4 ton truck and don't attempt to use aftermarket parts to turn a 1/2 ton into a 3/4 ton.

    RV's...how much longer?

The flip side is, as people transition to EV's, their will be less demand there for gas and diesel.

    Gas mileage

I was heading back from Moab in late September and I stopped in Crescent Junction for gas. Next to me was a guy filling up his giant motor home. I asked him what kind of mileage he gets and he said, "Nine". It didn't matter if it was just him or his whole family, if he was towing, etc. It...

    Crash Tests

Makes one wonder what the crash would have looked like with the added weight of a camper in the bed...although I don't think the camper would have been in the bed for long. I can't imagine the turnbuckles and tie-downs in the bed would have hung in there for more than one second into the crash.

Stupid question #5 the impending doom of gas powered outdoor equipment in CA

I respectfully disagree. During a recent kitchen remodel, the contractor rarely used a corded tool. Drills, sanders, saws, etc. were all battery powered. These used to be corded, but improvements in battery power and density has all but replaced corded tools. I have a battery powered hedge...

    New Pop-up Campers!

I like the Supertramp, but it will take awhile to wrap my head around the price. At 1200 lbs, I wouldn't consider hauling it with a 1/2 ton truck. The Scout camper takes an interesting approach, but it isn't a drop-top. https://scoutcampers.com/

What's FWC's angle on this? Are they there to show an alternative to the camper van?

    Weight

I'm conservative when it comes to weight. The one thing you can't test is how the truck will handle in an emergency when you may be braking very hard while aggressively turning to avoid an obstacle. This is when handling needs to be predictable and when airbags or extra leafs may not help the...

    Thacker Pass, Quinn River NV

This may be controversial, but if you look at the worldwide environmental "footprint" associated with oil, (the drilling, fracking, transporting by ship, rail, pipeline and truck, the refining, distributing, burning, etc.), is a thousand acre open pit mine really that bad of an option?

This is today. Cryptocurrency is still in it's infancy. "They’re claiming a SINGLE transaction consumes 306 kWh of electricity, which is roughly enough to power 10.35 U.S. households for an entire day. To give more perspective, total annual Bitcoin energy consumption is currently at almost 37...

    Outfitter Caribou Lite 8 on F150 ?

Having had an 8' Grandby on my Dodge Ram 1500 with a 6.5' bed, I think it's a bad idea to put that much weight that far back on a 1/2 ton truck. Emergency handling (when you need it most) will be terrible to the point of being dangerous.

    What truck with a FWC

I have no opinion on the truck brand, but I strongly believe at a minimum you need a 3/4 ton. It is a safety issue. You have children and a dog and you won't be travelling light. The 3/4 ton is both designed and built to carry more weight. If you get a 1/2 ton, you will be doing suspension...

Strap paddleboard to camper roof with no rack?

I don't think you'll damage the roof, but be sure to strap the paddleboards better than you think they need to be strapped. I lost a paddleboard that was strapped to the roof of my Grandby when I experienced fierce side winds driving over the Antioch bridge in the California delta. Even though...

    Front hitch to carry motorcycle

I have a Dodge RAM and I can't buy a front receiver. It would affect the system that controls the airbag deployment and I don't think any company wants to take on the liability. I could have something fabricated, but I prefer my airbags deploy when they are suppose to.

I have a 12' enclosed trailer I use to transport my quad. It does smell like gas when I arrive at my destination, especially if I forget to turn off the fuel. It airs out pretty quickly when I remove the quad and leave the doors open. I also sleep in it if I'm camping and as long as I've had...
