RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Atwood Hot water heater issues

Hey friends, not sure if correct sub but I'm having issues with my 2018 FWC Atwood hot water heater. I noticed that the on/off switch stop illuminating when I toggled it to ON. I checked the 2 volt fuse on the hot water heater and it was blown. I replaced the fuse and it blew again once I hit...

The fan sounded strong as usual, I just never heard the click click click. Next time, hopefully not, I'll try turning the truck on

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West New FWC hawk furnace not working in cold

I'll follow up here to all the comments: 1) FWC / Juniper overland has been good about fixing issues under warranty. I've had a few furnace issues and eventually Juniper just replaced the entire furnace free. The issues in the past was the furnace would fail, but would never work again...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West New FWC hawk furnace not working in cold

Hey everyone, not sure the model but its a 2018 FWC Hawk Atwood furnace. I noticed that when the furnace has been running for several hours, in cold weather ( below 10 degrees ) that eventually the furnace stops firing the ignition. I don't hear "click click click". The fan comes on for 10-20...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West TC Insurance questions, my current provider, USAA, is not doing a good job

Update, USAA still is giving me the run around. Having a hard time even getting them to respond. Word to the wise, get a legit policy, not something that is added to the existing truck policy. I think I'm going to get legal help here soon to get my roof fixed / compensation for the hail damage.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West TC Insurance questions, my current provider, USAA, is not doing a good job

Update here: USAA is still trying to figure out how to cover the roof of my 2018 four wheel camper from hail damage. The issue as 'optimistic paranoid' said is that the camper was treated as cargo and doesn't have its own policy. I think I'll eventually get this straightened out but I have added...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West TC Insurance questions, my current provider, USAA, is not doing a good job

USAA actually owns progressive, they initially tried to steer me there but said since its "attached" to the truck its under the truck coverage

I'll let you know how the claim goes, just very apprehensive about using USAA after this

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West TC Insurance questions, my current provider, USAA, is not doing a good job

Hey TC friends, my current insurance provider USAA doesn't seem to have a clue what a truck camper is, how to insure it, and generally is terrible with my current hail damage claim here in Colorado. USAA continues to ask for the vin, RV information, and refer to it as a roof top camper despite...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Beginner solar questions

Thanks for all the links, I'm hoping to find a solar panel that spans the length (or close to) the width of the yakima tracks, hopefully 160watts or even 200 watts. Most sellers I find want to sell me two 100 watt panels, which makes it tougher to mount the way I want

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Beginner solar questions

I have a 2018 FWC Hawk, side dinette with 2 deep cycles batteries from FWC. Questions: 1) The solar plug on the roof of the camper, are there certain brands/models that plug directly into this? 2) Where do the wires terminate from the roof plug? 3) In the side dinette model, where do most...

Thanks Craig, the batteries are the stock ones included with a new FWC purchase, I'm assuming 2 marine batteries. I'll have to take a look, thanks for the links!

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West FWC Dual battery charge

Are you using a 3 way or 2 way fridge Vic? I don't have any solar now, I was considering the 120w portable panel. I've heard a roof mounted system adds weight to the roof and is difficult to position for maximum sun angle

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West FWC Dual battery charge

Thanks Paul for detailed response. I run the fridge 24 hours a day, do you recommend turning off at night? I'm in Colorado we get a lot of sun, I was hoping the 120watt portable unit would extend our trips a few nights

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West FWC Dual battery charge

Hey everyone, I have 2 deep cycle batteries (new) from FWC that I'm finding loses charge after 3 nights. I'm running a 2 way fridge, furnace at night, charging phones, some fan usage, some lights, etc. Is this normal for 2 batteries to lose charge after 2-3 nights with that usage? Would the...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Roof storage rack for Hawk

I think I'm going with something like this, I can store chairs/wood/etc and then attach my bikes to the back. Ronin, yes this will extend the vehicle quite a bit but I have a swing out hitch by RakAttach and I can swing the entire thing out with this setup.

Are the benefits of roof storage worth the decreased MPG? I think the hitch storage works best, front or back

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Roof storage rack for Hawk

I'm in a similar situation as you. I want to carry wood, camp chairs, and misc gear. I'm considering a front hitch with a storage box OR a roof box. I can't use the rear hitch because I want to put bikes there. I have a swing out hitch for this and the amount I use the bikes putting them on the...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Anyone using FWC Hawk in a 5.5 or 5.8 bed?

I'm having trouble finding a truck with full size cab (crew max, etc) that also has a 6.5ft bed. There is a lot more options in the 5.5ft bed market. I'm willing to helper springs, air bags, sway bars. What does everyone think of doing the 5.5ft bed with the hawk model? Thanks and looking...
