Hi,
I hope to get some advice - I am new on the forum, hope I am doing this right. I am replacing the wood framing and plywood on the sides of the upper section of a 1976 CO. They used 1" crown staples to attach much of the framing to itself. I don't have a staple gun and am wondering what a good alternative might be. Are screws too brittle? Should I just use nails? The nails would have to go through the 11/2" wood.
Also, the skin was attached with those tiny 1"inch finish nails, but there were a few with heads. Should I just try and use stainless finish nails as replacement? THe holes in the skin might not let that work.
Thanks for any advice.

The current builds use screws to attach the skins on. The appear to be #8 and they use the square head screwdriver. I’d see if Rusty chimes in. He seems to be the master of vintage Alaskans.

I hope he does, we haven’t heard from him in a very long time.

You could also try the Alaskan Camper Lovers group on Facebook. They get more traffic, but mainly for-sale adds.

Thank you for the replies and information. This is a great site.
