Hello all - I've been using (and loving) a 2010 Hawk w/ rollover chouch since purchasing (through this forum) in 2015, and I am looking for guidance on adding a propane furnace. I've reached out to Stan at FWC, who told me that simply adding the current Dometic unit DFSD 12111 would not simply be "plug and play" due to differences in the camper framing in newer models.
Not knowing a ton about these units, I'm wondering about the Dometic DFSD16121 installed in the "small vent configuration." From looking over the manual, this unit would seemingly fit in the cabinet space circled in the attached image, and can be vented using only a 3.5" diameter wall hole through the camper side.
Question - what am I missing here? Has anyone else performed this sort of installation, putting a new propane furnace in an older camper using the existing cabinet layout? What should I be looking for to ensure that the furnace will fit, and that installing using only the small vent hole will work for our application.
My hope is to simply duct the furnace through front of the cabinet vent using the Dometic 30260 front vent.
Thanks for your help and advice.
P.S. I have researched and considered the diesel heater options, but would prefer to use the onboard propane and keep things as "stock-like" as possible. Also, the Mr. Buddy hasn't been all that useful for us with dogs and kids in the camper.
