Photography is why my wife and I are fitting up a FWC Eagle. Figure being able to stay out instead of hunting motels or having to make only day trips is going to save us a lot of time and gas.

Not the photographer at John Shaw's level, but still enjoy Wildlife and Wildflower photography as well as the occasional landscape photography.

Hi Guys,

I too am a photographer with 43 years of practice using large format (5x7 inch) film cameras in B&W. I've also taught photography for 33 years, primarily at LSU, Baton Rouge. I bought my Ranger shell to use for the same purpose as Mr. Shaw, while on a sabbatical leave from my teaching duties for the upcoming spring term. I'll be heading west to get "lost" with the camera and not have to look for lodging. As I mentioned in a recent post my Ranger is under restoration and I'm doing a ton of work on it; which includes designing a rack/platform for the top that I can shoot from. With advice from Stan, most of the load goes to the side walls instead of the roof. I'll post pictures soon. Be on the lookout for me, and of course, I plan a pilgrimage to FWC headquarters.

The old photographers Cliché, "F8 & BE THERE", is the primary reason Sue & I went with the FWC. Our beefed up T100 w/ a Ranger allow us to get back there & stay; until everything is right and we get the shot.

I'm most interested in the roof access and how it's done. I've thought about putting in a Midi Heki Skylight, which FWC has at times listed for the Eagle. That provides a opening big enough to stand up in on the roof without having to be on the roof. Not sure what mod of the roof framing it requires.
