I have been going every January for the last 5 years BLM 14 Day Big tent show , great street foods. Huge Flea Market $140.00 for 8 Months if you have the time. I generally head to Yuma after it's a 630 mile drive from SF. Yuma another 100 miles south Lots of free camping. DSCN2198.jpg

Hi Wagoneer
We go there for a gem and mineral show the wife likes to do. Jan 15 - 20th
We stay in town in our space for the show. I think my brother in law and his wife are coming up also. They park their RV, in a RV park :)
Do you go to the big tent show while you are there?

The Big Tent show is great lots of resources to check out, alternative energy and a bunch of weird new devices and odds and ends, Battle Born Batteries has a booth, and my interest in Petrified wood . Crazy people and street food. I stay on BLM land with the cheaprvliving crowd.

My brother in law likes the tent show, we went last year opening day it was a crazy show to say the least. I can't believe people bring there dogs thru there.
Maybe we can hook up and you can show me the street food vendors you like and we could do lunch. Most of the time there during the day I help my wife with her booth, but she does give kitchen pass's.

Hi BTH
There is plenty going on in Quartize, probably some shows and other smaller events. Take a day trip down, and check it out! If you have never been there it is quite a site to see. Pretty sure the first day of the tent show coincidences with the gem show week. Make no mistake there is so much happening you cant see it all.

From the Lake Havasu area to Yuma starts seeing snowbirds from after Thanksgiving to when it gets too hot thus many follow the temps down to Yuma. American Girl Mine a good example of a quiet place with abundant open space But don't forget to bring water I like to carry at least 20 gallons with some emergency anti dehydration drinks It's very dry and sneaks up on you.

Probably not going this year due to balancing excursions ( weeee! ) with life, plus finally buidling that dog platform bed in the back this Dec-Jan. But next yr quite possibly, I'd like to say hallo to the Cheap RV Living folks.

Where is NorCal?. been to a many RTR 's and the first BurningMan,, it was free but I was providing the Generator, one of the drop from a helocopter in vietnam diesel type generators

In Quartzsite now for first time. Certainly unique. I will likely swing back thru in January as I am curious about the " big tent" they put up. Heading next to Kofa wildlife refuge for some hiking then checkout Yuma, another first time area. Cooler mornings than I expected, 40F every day.
