This web page https://www.allterraincampers.com/Standard_Features.html says, One of the new features that we have made standard in all campers is what we call the "extended bed". The extended bed comes out over your cab 48" and has a very comfortable 4" mattress to sleep on. The overall size of the bed is 47" x 81". This eliminates the need for a slide out or fold up type bed taking up most of the room inside your camper when the bed is made.

This web page https://www.allterraincampers.com/Price_List.html says, Slide out for Extended Bed $375.00

Question: Is the Price List incorrect, or am I not understanding something?

This post http://www.wanderthewest.com/forum/showthread.php?t=225 says, We have beefed up the frame of the camper by increasing the size of tubing that we use from 1" to 1 1/2" and 2" throughout most of the frame work.

Question: What size tubing is used in the FWC (Grandby)?

Mike,

My '98 Grandby is mostly framed with 1" box. There are places, especially the back wall (mainly due to the rear step option) where 1-1/2" and 2" box is being used.

As to the slide out for the extended bed, I think what your are looking at is adding a slide out section to the already extended bed. I have the extended bed option on my Grandby with the same dimensions shown for the ATC but it also has a 16" slide out extension which brings the full bed dimension to
64" x 77". That is how I take that statement anyway. To my knowledge, FWC does not offer the bed without a slide out in the Grandby/Hawk. You either have an extended stationary 48" wide bed with an 16" slide out or the standard 32" wide bed with a 32" slide out. ATC has made the 48" wide bed standard. The addition of the slide out is extra.

Maybe Ben or Marty could clarify or verify this?

bed size

The standard bed that we put on the camper is what we used to call an extended bed. It goes out over the cab 48". Some people still want to extended this bed into the camper more, so we offer the extension that pulls out inside the camper to increase the bed size.

The camper used to be made of mostly 1" tubing.
