all,
I have a camper with dual propane tanks. When one runs out of propane you have to switch the hose to the other tank. This does not make a whole lot of sense to do in the middle of the night ect...

what have people done to swap to connect up two hoses and have the regulator auto swap to the other tank when the primary tank runs out?
TIA,
Kevin

I haven't done anything to the propane system on my Grandby. In my prior Bigfoot I had auto changeover propane tanks and they worked flawlessly. I would check to see if the indicator for the tank I had been using had changed from green to red, and when it had, I knew to get that tank refilled. The switchovers happened without incident, which was nice, since I ran that fridge on propane all the time. I now have the compressor fridge so the auto switchover seems far less important to me, but if I was running the propane fridge, I would be wanting to do something to be sure I didn't run out of propane, or to receive an alert that the fridge flame had gone out.

I think your right. I will just go and Google the auto-switch regulator.. I have a compressor fridge also. I was more thinking that the heat will stay on all night, as needed and during cooking no issues of switching tanks. it is more of a convenience thing for cooking.. my Lance and Artic Fox had the auto change also. was very nice and seems to be cheap to change to.

thanks!

Please report back what you find out. Sounds like a handy device, though I go a long time before needing to swap.

This looks like an answer in search of a problem. If I needed a regulator I would buy an auto switch one. Not sure I would change before then. I do have a DC compressor fridge, if you had a propane fridge with two 10# tanks it might be a good modification.

Right now Bill I'd have to agree. For me it's a nice idea but not really needed. We've never come close to running a 10# tank empty even after 2 weeks so it's something I've stuck in the nice to haves.

yes i have two 10# tanks, and when in the mountains elk hunting or any other type of cold weather camping. it sure is nice to have it auto switch so you do not wake up in a 20 degree camper after the propane runs out. been there done that...

thanks for everyone's input I do like this site.
